My original plan was to get the front shocks replaced when the frame was replaced, but the Bilsteins did not fit properly with my 2" lift and logistical issues combined with dealer markup led to me having my mechanic do it today; I was going to replace the front shocks anyway because the truck has over 143K miles and they're worn out, but I had no idea they were actually blown...

    69E66498-9E5D-489A-8C5F-3286C61BEB85.jpg

The lift kit was installed by my
mechanic last spring, and my mechanic gave the truck its yearly required state safety inspection in mid-August; It passed inspection with flying colors, and when the frame was replaced the dealer found no issues with my front shocks. However, as you can see in the picture above the shocks are blown. I have accidentally hopped curbs a few times, but I don't beat the shit out of this truck.

What I'm worried about is that since both shock absorbers were shot, the spacers for the lift kit spacers played a role in it.

Again, as stated above, my truck passed inspection with flying colors in August 2021 and the frame perforation was not discovered; Blown shocks are an automatic failure of PA state inspection...

Perforation was discovered by dealer in September 2021 and the frame was replaced a week before Thanksgiving 2021; Either the dealer didn't catch this, or the shocks weren't blown at this time...

Yeah, they usually play a role in it by speeding it up...how many miles have they been on, all 143k?

Also, I don't think they check for that during the inspection/they can't tell, and I doubt the dealer mechanics cared to tell anyone about it.

That don't sound right, I went about 20k with nothing and then another 20k with spacers, shocks were pretty much done but not that bad...

My mechanic (independent mechanic, not dealer) had to disassemble the suspension to put in the spacers last April and said they were fine...

Don't worry Charlie, you were very clear about it being a sensory issue in your first post about it.

Warranty is 36K. Both shocks went exactly at 4X that. Looks precision-engineered to me :notsure:

They're square LEDs; $150 for the set and Pete reused the wiring harness I got on Amazon last year...

I understand that. I was just saying I also can see there side of it. It’s probably a topic that has caused problems on there site and it’s just easier for them to black list mask discussion all together.
