1992-1993 is when eminent domain was declared and people started to get forced out of their homes and businesses...

 

This is the former Borough of Centralia, Pennsylvania; Almost completed vacated over twenty years ago due to an underground coal mine fire that has been burning since 1962!

 

My grandma's house in Maine has one of these sodium lights mounted to a tree, for the purpose of lighting up the staircase down to the lake (for boat rides and fishing at night, I guess); When I was little (like 5 to 8 years of age), that light was so big that to young me, it looked like the plastic circular cover was bigger than an adult male and could contain the average man like a playpen could contain a toddler! This is photographic proof that the power is still on in Centralia...

 

It was about here that I unknowingly dropped my keys, and didn't realize that I did not have them until I got back to the truck...



I would not have been stranded, as I have a spare in an undisclosed location on the truck, and I could actually care less about losing keys to my truck as I can get copies made at Home Depot made obscenely cheap; My issue is that two of the keychains on that set of keys have a great deal of sentimental value to me! It took two trips around the municipal building before I found my keys..

 

Is this the town that Silent Hill was based upon?

 

I have no idea; I've heard references to The Hills Have Eyes...
