This appears to have been a fire hydrant at one time, just one of many clues that there used to be buildings of some sort up here; Other clues included chunks of asphalt from long-deteriorated roads, and interior trimming that would have common at the time they started to evacuate Centralia (scroll down)...

 

This appears to be fake brick veneer that went on a wall or around a fireplace; No telling if it was brought up here and discarded or came from a house that was demolished decades ago, but either scenario is entirely plausible...

 

This was a long way down; The picture is deceptive and does not do it justice!

 

It's going in on Monday, so I'm gonna have to suffer through a roundtrip to Carlisle and back on Saturday; Luckily there is nothing wrong with my A/C!

We stopped in Hamburg on the way home and perused the Cabela's before heading to the Red Robin across the street for a late lunch; Neither Dave nor John had ever been to a Cabela's before, and they both thought it was the coolest thing they'd seen in a long time! Here, we see some turtles chilling under a log in the aquarium...

 

The inhabitants of the aquarium were the only living wildlife in the store, but as I showed you last time I went here, the taxidermy displays are still pretty damn realistic!

 

No, I am the 3rd owner. It had 126,000 miles on it when I got it and it just rolled over 130,000 mi. I've had it for about 2 years and it's been that way since I got it.

 

I put almost 2,000 miles on my truck in May!

 

Heh. Well you got me beat - I put less than 1000 on in May.

What we have here is a 1976 Ford Econoline 250, originally a stripped-down work van with no A/C and no other options (I think it came with power steering and power brakes); It had a 351cid V8 and 3-on-the-tree, and honestly I thought the biggest engine you could get with a 3-speed manual in one of these vans was a 302...

Anyway, it now has a 6.9L IDI diesel V8 and a floor-shifted manual transmission; I believe the tranny is a 5-speed, but I forgot to ask the owner. The van has also been fitted with an aftermarket Vintage Air A/C system and a decent stereo system; What more do you need?!?!

I remember going with my Dad to pick up a brand new 1975 Ford Van that he ordered, it was a copper/bronze color with straight 6, 3 on the tree.
