Dave may have actually been to Centralia more times than me in the last 15 years or so, and neither of us had ever explored this area; I went to Centralia for the first time in February 2022 and this was my fifth time, while Dave has been three or four times this year and first went back in 2009...

 

Just strickly out of curiosity.....what type of coolant are you putting in? And what did your mechanic put in?

 

Off in the distance, you see a rusted tower that is part of some treatment plant; Dave and I ultimately could tell if it was abandoned, though it looked pretty damn abandoned...

The pink 50/50 stuff, and the coolant I used to top off says "FOR ASIAN VEHICLES." Pete uses the proper coolant, but I don't know what brand it is...

 

What's the brand?

 

And this wasn't some teenager. She was a 30-something mom, there with her fiancé and infant son! I didn't even ask her if she'd pose for photos; I was just telling her about how my friends had posed for pictures in the apron and mask, and she was like "I'll put that stuff on and you can take my picture!" The only condition was that I also take a bunch of pictures with her phone so she could put them on social media; I have a feeling I'm going to have a lot more beautiful women volunteering to pose for pictures with the truck...

 

The stuff I used is in a blue jug, but I chucked the jug in the dumpster at Dairy Queen earlier today; I have no idea what specific brand Pete uses, but I will ask him tomorrow. On another note, Peter used to work at a Volvo dealership and does a lot of work on Volvos, so he has Volvo-branded brake fluid. My truck actually has Volvo-branded brake fluid in it, but's it the right DOT or whatever.

Anyway, yeah; I will ask Pete what brand he uses when I bring the truck in tomorrow.

No....no need to ask. It has nothing to do with your problem. I was just curious.

As for the brake fluid? There are only a few makers of it. Some manufacturers make multiple brands. As long as you are using DOT 3 or 4 is doesn't matter what brand or that it's "Volvo fluid".

 

Disregard the info on the sign. Once again, this is in Centralia, which is over two hours north of Philly...

 

And seriously, Pete is the best mechanic ever. He used to work at a Volvo dealer, and he is also trained to work on a few German brands, but he was not fond of the dishonesty that ran rife at the dealership. He started his own shop (The Fix Autoworks), and he is quite possibly the most honest mechanic I've ever met. He also owned a Tacoma and has quite a few customers who own them, so he knows his way around them. It also helps that one of the guys working for him is a former Toyota tech. But yeah, Pete is the best mechanic ever, and I do not really trust anyone else to touch my truck.
