I've been through a gas chamber of a different sort. A girl I was seeing farted in my truck on the first date, back in 2013...

It did not help that I had the A/C on and it circulated the smell through the cab, and remember that I have a regular cab; I know hot girls who can burp like 300-pound linebackers, but I've never encountered one who can fart like she did!

I broke a finger and a couple toes.
I really think I might have broke a rib when I slipped off the step ladder while working on my brother lifted Ram 1500 and landed on the front support. It hurt, it hurt bad. But everyone I know that says, “There’s no way I broke one” because I wouldn’t be getting around as good as I was?
So, I don’t know.

What I do know is medial bills and the ER are expensive.
I avoid those places at all cost.

 

I'm glad I have insurance. It covers everything but eyeglasses...

 

I let a hospital bill go to collections. They dropped it after a few months.

Did you see my truck all done up for Halloween? Unfortunately it's got a blown head gasket and even though oil is seeping into coolant instead of the other way around, I don't feel comfortable driving it more than ten miles from home until the head gasket is replaced; I will be missing a Halloween-themed car show since Saturday, but the truck goes in on Monday.

Several factors come into play with this. Most European or Asian families make do with only having one car if they even have a car. Those parts of the world use much more public transportation than people in the US. Us drivers likely put FAR more miles per year on their vehicles thereby producing a larger amount of pollution.

Look at your own household, between you and your parents there are 3 vehicles. Much of your driving, to shows and such, is really purely recreational. That means most of the polluting that you're doing is completely unnecessary. Not criticizing mind you, just trying to point out why the US needs to crack down. If you look into a little of the history in Europe following WWII and look at some of the old photos of famous landmarks in the major cities you'll see just how bad the pollution there was by how filthy some of the building used to get. 2-stroke engines and unregulated diesels put out a lot of nasty stuff.
