    Ha. Only thing that makes sense is his wife said “list your truck for sale.” But he doesn’t wanna sell.

    Or he’s higher than a kite. It is LA.

    But the engine was still somewhat warm despite sitting out in the parking lot while we saw Halloween Ends (About two and a half hours). The heater even blew warm after sitting that long...

    @wilcam47

    I'm thinking the cylinder head might be cracked. I was having problems with misfiring earlier this year...

    You're truck didn't get hot enough for that to happen.

    I drove a 22re over 40 miles with a hole in the water pump. A timing chain guide broke and the chain rubbed through the side wall of the pump dumping the coolant directly into the oil. If I stopped, the truck would go into the red temp wise and stall out. It was manual. The temp gauge would go back into the normal range once it started moving again. I replace the water pump and head gasket myself. I had a machine shop test the head and it was fine. They just resurfaced it "to clean it up".

    You have to remember the temp gauge on 99% of all vehicles is just a warning light. It doesn't tell you the actual temperature. It will illuminate before you get into a danger zone.

    Most likely not. It takes a lot to crack them

    So you're thinking that I didn't warp the cylinder head, either?

    On another note, my truck never fully "overheated", like ever. A few times in June, July, August, and September, the needle went to near the top but would immediately come back down to normal temperature. At the Wawa 10 miles from my house in September, the needle went to literally just below the red zone and stayed there, so I freaked out and shut off the engine; I stayed at the Wawa for about 45 minutes until it cooled down, and then when I drove it home, the needle would start to rise whenever I was at a red light. The needle has not risen once since that one time in Gwyn's driveway on October 9th...

    And I never got a warning light, or a CEL from my current head gasket issue. My truck passed Pennsylvania's fairly strict emissions test five days before overheating. My CEL has come on before, but always for stupid reasons...

    The very first time was in September 2015 when I disconnected my horn, the second time was in October 2021 when my late friend Jim helped me replace the spark plugs, the third time was sometime in early 2022 when one of the oxygen sensors failed; I had both of them replaced because I did not know which one had failed...

    On another note, when Jim helped me replace the spark plugs, it was the result of disconnected something and not the the result of anything either of us did wrong. I drove the truck to my mechanic Pete immediately after Jim and I put things back together, and all he had to do was plug an OBD scanner in to make it go away. He didn't even charge me anything!

    Correct, I'm doubting that you did. It takes a lot to crack them.

    Are you familiar with the Pontiac J2000? My dad had a hatch back from the 90's, maybe even the 80's. Anyway, the temperature switch that turned on the coolant fan quit working. So instead of replacing the switch, my dad direct wired the fan to the battery. You had to pop the hood and disconnect it when you turned the car off. In turn, you also had to reconnect it once you started the car. Well, enough times of forgetting to hook the fan up caused the car to over heat severely several times. Severely meaning the car would stall out and you had to wait for it to cool down.

    This manifested a new problem. You could only get the damn thing started with starting fluid. So now, you had to give it a shot of starting fluid, start it, and then hook the fan up.

    Eventually, the car blew the head gasket. My dad had the head checked and it had 2-3 cracks per cylinder. It was an aluminum head. That is an extreme case right there. The combination of starting fluid and the fan issue basically killed that car.

    LOL, notice how it says "Fuel Injection" and it has a traditional air filter? The old donut ring filter. So, it did not have injectors. It had one big injector that literally spewed gas into the throttle body.
