That's not even the weirdest encounter I've had in a Wawa parking lot; I believe this happened in Maryland in either 2013 or 2014 when my parents and I were driving to a family vacation. If it was 2013, we were driving to Virginia Beach for a family reunion. If it was 2014, we were driving to Myrtle Beach to see my aunt and uncle...

I was in the parking lot taking pictures of a truck that I liked, if I remember correctly. This really attractive young woman came up to me and started chatting me up. Because she was an attractive female, I let my guard down. Turns out she was selling spray deodorant out of her backpack; I actually let her spray one of her deodorants on my wrist before I fully figured out what was going on and said I wasn't interested. I told the Wawa staff that some random chick was selling deodorant in the parking lot, and unsurprisingly they said this was not allowed.

 

That's not even the only time someone has tried to sell me deodorant; I went to a car show in downtown Easton, in June 2015 if I remember correctly; I was taking pictures of a classic car, and some random guy in his early 20s came up to me. He started to take off his backpack and asked if I would like to buy any deodorant, to which I responded that I was not interested, and he put on his backpack and walked away without incident. Looking back on that encounter, he probably shoplifted it...

I'd reckon that this was sometime in late 2014, and it was definitely after May 2013 because we were in my dad's 2013 Honda Pilot. He traded the Pilot for the Yukon in 2018, so it was before that; I believe we were driving back up from visiting family in Northern Virginia, either for Thanksgiving or Christmas. It was nighttime, and we stopped at a huge rest stop in Newark, Delaware...

We had taken care of business and were sitting in the Pilot getting ready to go; I was in the backseat about to watch a movie (Every family vehicle we've owned since 2000 has had some form of built-in entertainment system). This young woman, probably teens or early 20s, walked up to the driver's window. She was quite attractive in my opinion, and didn't seem threatening, so my dad rolled down the window. If I remember correctly, she asked my dad if he could give her "a couple bucks for gas"...

My dad said he didn't have any money, and she walked away, but after that incident we were always a lot more alert at rest stops after dark.

I’ve never had anyone try to sell me deodorant.
I’ve had them offer me other things, but never deodorant.

Depending on my mood, I might give panhandlers money, offer to buy them something (not give money) or walk by them totally oblivious to the fact they are there. I guess it’s better to catch me on a good day.

We’re all not far from standing on the corner next to them. Should the roles be reversed………..
That’s what make me cave and give a few bucks from time to time.

 

One time in July 2018, I went to a car show in Philly; I was sitting at a red light in the city on the way home and a saw a guy standing holdings sign proclaiming him to be a homeless veteran. I rolled down the window and gave him some money. When the person is standing outside a Wawa in an area where there aren't supposed to be panhandlers, eyeing me up as I pull into a parking spot, then I'm not too keen on giving them money. The other problem with Doylestown is that there are group homes in the area where the residents are just allowed to wander around town unsupervised. These residents range from weird like the guy who was caught trying to steal cigarette butts from the receptacle in an attempt to smoke them, to downright mean and nasty like the guy who flipped out at me because I was walking my boss's then-boyfriend's crotchety old dog and the dog started barking at him. Don't even get me started on Joel, the most hated man in Doylestown!

No, I don't think she was a hooker...

Actually, I think that the correct term in this case would be lot lizard, but I don't think she was one of those...

 

I actually had two women about early 20s come into my work when I was 19 trying to sell me cologne..they had both mens and womens stuff, and were well dressed, enough at least I don't suspect immediately that it was stolen stuff. I wasn't interested in it for myself, nor did I have a girlfriend to buy for.

I have been driving for almost 13 years, and I've never had an accident in the snow. Today, I slid on the snow and took out my own parents' mailbox...



However, aside from a dent in the bull bar, the truck had no damage!

 

Easy fix.
I wouldn’t worry about it.
Nothing hurt.

Just needs a new post. The box looks fine.

Probably, maybe.

Don’t think this ol’boy wouldn’t shave down a 4x4 and make a “slip fit” for the new post.
Slide the new hollow post over the 4x4 and fix it in the spring. Or never

 

It is, someone went cheap.

 

It depends how the old one was installed, but l usually see them held with a little cement. There is also some new stuff that is a little bag of 2 part foam that your shake up and pour in.
