@Stitchgirl90 and I went to the Greater Philadelphia Pet Expo yesterday, and I got a lot of great pictures. Those are Mexican Hairless Dogs...

The owner of the Noah's Ark sanctuary had a few of her 14 dogs (and several other animals) at the expo with her, including this adorable 5-month old Presa Canario puppy named Magnus. He was the total opposite of the breed's reputation and one of the friendliest dogs I've ever met!

 

The neighbors across the street have a dog that looks damn near identical to that, it keeps escaping and coming over here tearing stuff up.

 

I forget this dog's name, but he is a "Pocket Pitty", another cruel attempt by greedy breeders (greeders) to create a designer breed. The Pit Bull was never meant to be this small, and this guy was created by the selective breeding of two runts. The result is small dog, but one with health problems. Regardless, he was still a very friendly dog!

 

A Rottweiler? Is he mean, or just destructive?

 

Quite destructive, has scared the fuck out of me a few times sneaking up behind me or charging me in the darkness when taking the trash out.

 

The woman had a veritable menagerie of rescued animals, including two domestic turkeys that will be living out their lives on her 32-acre property instead of ended up in somebody's oven on Thanksgiving. These two toms (male turkeys) were bred to be eaten, and as such they ready to be slaughtered at two months old. Because they are meant specifically for the dinner table, little thought is given to their health and wellbeing. They have voracious appetites and have to be kept on a restricted diet for health reasons. Because of the inevitable health problems, the average lifespan of these turkeys is only 2 or 3 years. These two were very friendly, and this was my very first time petting a turkey!
