I know for a fact that pre-09 5-lug Tacos do not have traction control and thus have a conventional open rear. Does your '07 have an open rear or did you put an LSD in?

Both pre '09s and post '09s have an open differential. The Atrac works electronically on the antilock braking system in the post 2008's and has no mechanical function within the differential housing. My 2010 has a 2014 4.10 3rd member with an Eaton Detroit Tru-Trac mechanical LSD installed.

Then why do both rear wheels spin when I hit the gas?

How hard was it to install that Eaton?

Get your passenger side rear wheel firmly planted on a frozen puddle of ice, and then hit the gas. Note the results then. :)

As with most of the major mechanical upgrades, i left that up to a shop - and the recourse of a warranty repair on their dime, to do properly and professionally. There is major tear-down involved, replacement of bearings, and reshimming of the whole 3rd member assembly with the LSD installed. I had the LSD installed at same time as i had the 3.31 3rd member removed, and replaced with the 4.10 3rd member.

That's something that my shadetree motorcycle mechanic skills weren't confident enough to tackle, in terms of the cost of getting someone else to do it, vs potential aggravation of doing it myself.

This is an '08 DCSB that I previously parked my RC next to for a photo op a few weeks ago. I chatted with the owner and found out that it had been completely repainted to being involved in two separate accidents where most of the body was damaged. The truck was NOT totaled and still has a clear PA title...

    Fuck inspection and registration!

If I had my way, every state in America would be like Arizona with regards to driver's licenses and state IDs...

In Arizona, license is valid either for life or until you turn 65 and never actually expires! You have to get a new picture taken every 10 or 12 years, though. Only going to the DMV once every decade? Works for me!

As for inspections and registration, screw them! Just a way for the state to make money and the government to keep tabs on us! The only mandatory requirement would be liability insurance with a minimum coverage of $1 million!

Since we seem to be on the topic of shit breaks, here's a story for you...

One time I was taking a dump at school, right after lunch if I remember correctly. I was the only one in the bathroom...

A couple of inner-city hood rat-sounding guys come into the bathroom (I'll explain in a PM how I knew they were a couple of hood rats; skin color has nothing to do with it) and one of them immediately made a comment about how it smelled bad in the bathroom, "Man, it stinks in here" or something like that. The tone in his voice made it seemed like he wanted to throw down with whoever was taking a dump (me) just for stinking up the bathroom. Despite their displeasure with the smell, they both stayed and took a leak, but also loitered in the bathroom for what seemed like an eternity. Finally they left, and I was finally able to resume my business. I'd seriously been afraid to continue using the bathroom because I thought any sounds from that stall would make these guys angry...

    Seriously though?!?!

It's a men's bathroom at community college, just around the corner from the cafeteria, at or just after lunchtime...!

What the hell did you expect it to smell like?!?!

Here's one thing I'll just come right out and say...

Special needs individuals often make me uncomfortable. Some people might say this is one of those pot calling the kettle black situations.

Yes, I am technically on the autism spectrum. I was formally diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome in November 1998, at the age of 9.

In grade school, from kindergarten all the way up through 12th grade, I received some of the same services as lower-functioning special needs individuals.

However, while I'm technically autistic, I don't live up to many of the stereotypes that people have about people with autism...

    1. I'm on TW because I own a Tacoma. Obviously, there wouldn't be much point in owning any vehicle if I didn't have a driver's license. Only 50% of people with AS end up getting a license. I also pay insurance and maintenance costs on my Tacoma.
    2. I can drive a stick shift, which something most of my friends who don't have AS can't do.
    3. I still live with my parents but I plan on moving out by the time I'm 32 and I hope to buy my first house by the time I'm 35-36. A lot of people I know who have various forms of autism have a hard time planning ahead.
    4. I have a college degree!
    5. I don't have much in the way of sexual experience, but I've actually been with a girl before (a lot of people autism I know have never even kissed a girl!).
    6. I'm actually quite sociable and likeable, and very well-spoken.

What I really can't stand about low-functioning special needs individuals is when their parents bring them to public places like the supermarket and don't control them. It's one thing if a kid under the age of 10 throws a temper tantrum, but it is very awkward and uncomfortable when someone roughly your size (and presumably over the age of 18) throws a fit. Even if they're not throwing a fit and just acting weird because they don't know any better, it makes me uncomfortable.

I recently found out that a friend and former coworker of mine has a bit of a coke problem, and unfortunately I am not talking about diet soda.

What angers me the most is that this friend bold-faced lied to me recently and said they'd never done coke in their life (though they are what I would classify as a bit of a pothead).

If there's one thing that really fucking tears me up inside, it's people who use drugs. It hits closer to home when it's someone you know personally and kinda sorta, maybe, I dunno...care about?!?!

I'm not talking about weed. Even yours truly, who has vowed to never smoke a cigarette, has smoked weed before.

I will never touch cocaine or any of the harder shit though...

Your friend would hate me... I'm working very hard to drive up the cost of Colombian nose candy by limiting the supply.

But seriously, I hope your friend gets help before it's too late.

I think the metaphorical war on drugs is both a good thing and a bad thing at the same time.

Thankfully, I've never had any friends who were addicted to heroin or meth, but some of my closest friends have dabbled in "Colombian Nose Candy." Difference between them and the friend I just mentioned is that they experimented with coke a few times but haven't done it in years.

My dad helped the Coast Guard go after coke smugglers in the 90s and early 2000s, during his days as a navigator on a P-3. There's no way in hell they're gonna catch all of the drug runners, but every little bit helps. I think that this method of stopping drug runners does quite a bit to make a differences, and I may be a bit biased since my dad played a role in it, but I think it's badass!

I also believe in everybody involved in distribution, from the dealers and distributors all the way up to the cartels and kingpins, getting the harshest penalties possible. I think heroin dealers should be shot, honestly...

The part of the so-called "War on Drugs" that I strongly dislike is the harsh treatment of nonviolent drug offenders. Hardcore drug addicts should be given rehab instead of jail. Honestly, I think the few who can afford their habits without resorting to breaking the law should be allowed to drug themselves to death. As sad as it is, it's their body and their choice...
