If it has gotten any worse. Throw the new one in and be done.
If it gets worse, you will know.

It's 6 one way, half a dozen the other.
It's either the switch or the resistor that fails.
Doesn't matter what setting the speed is on. One of them is taking a beating.
The real fix was for Toyota to use larger wire and diameter pins.

Did you see the picture of the module all smashed apart? When it failed before, it was gradual...

    Yeah. I seen it.
    It was "broken". Physically.
    It's toast.

And it works great, plus it came out of a 2009-2011 truck, so the temperature control isn’t reversed!

So, that pigtail was burnt up from year, and my mechanic couldn't find an exact replacement, so he cleaned it really good and reused it. The control module literally broke apart because I used "percussive maintenance" on it...

I learned it from an old friend named Frank back in 2009. For me, it has worked on microwaves, air-conditioners, radios, TVs, TV remotes. My mechanic is known as the Volvo whisperer, and one of his techniques for getting a frozen starter to work on an old 240 is to hit it with a hammer...

Back in the day when I had a MGB I couldn't go anywhere alone for a few weeks because I needed someone to turn the key while I banged the starter with a rubber mallet. When I finally had time to replace it life went back to normal...or as close to normal as it could for an British car owner.

My dad bought a light blue 1978 MGB in about 1985-1986 when he was stationed at Moffett Field in Northern California. The carburetor caught fire one time while he was driving, but luckily a nearby business provided him with a fire extinguisher, and he was able to put the fire out before it actually damaged the car. He was even able to drive it home!

I will admit that I am a horny driver...

    :anonymous:

Amanda was in the truck with me, and I was heading South out of Doylestown on Main Street; I had had just picked up my hard drive from Dtown Tech, and there was a silver 2002-2004ish Acura RSX (the replacement for the Integra) in front of me. The speed limit on that stretch of road is 45 MPH, and this person was going 30-35 MPH. They were also swerving, so it was obvious they weren't paying attention (Texting?). I blasted the horn, and the driver extended their arm out the window and flipped me off, and then slammed on the brakes; I was really pissed off at this point, made sure there wasn't a cop around, and just drove around them. They didn't attempt to keep me from passing, and I left them in my rearview mirror.

I take absolutely no responsibility for my behavior prior to passing the Acura. My theory is that the newest generation of licensed drivers forgets that they are in a 2-ton hunk of metal on a major thoroughfare (maybe they think they're walking on a sidewalk or that they're at home on their computer). Remember the guy in white Honda CRV who blew through a redlight while I was making a left and had a green. The driver of the white Honda did not rage at me, but he seemed utterly confused as to (A) why he was getting beeped at and (B) what I was doing there to begin with, nevermind the fact that he ran a redlight.

Wanna flip me off for beeping at you? Whatever. The guy in the white Honda did not flip me off, but the person in the silver Acura did; I have no idea if the driver of the Acura was male or female, but they were wearing a shirt that had pink on it. That doesn't mean they're female.

Possibly trying to cause an accident, which the shithead in the Acura did do, is a different issue entirely.

Years ago, after COVID but before I started dating Amanda, I was on Route 611 just before the turnpike. There was heavy traffic in the right lane, so I put on my left turn signal, checked to see if the coast was clear, and proceeded to change lanes. At the last possible minute, this green 1990s Mazda Miata that was going entirely too fast came out of nowhere. The driver of the Miata laid on his horn and got into the center/turn lane to avoid rear-ending my truck. Okay, I take responsibility for that, but no collision occurred...

The Miata then zoomed past me in the center lane and cut me off before getting into the right lane several cars ahead; I thought that this was the end of it...

The moron in the Miata decided he was going to teach me a lesson, which would have gone very badly for him I hadn't been paying attention, and would have been entirely his fault if a collision occured. This guy saw me coming on his left, and thought it would a be good idea to swerve into the left lane on purpose, directly in front of me...

I'm in a pickup truck, and you're in a Miata. Physics ain't on your side, bro; I don't think an older Miata even weighs a ton, but my truck is almost two tons. I would have torn through that fucking car like a wet paper bag. In all fairness, you were going too fast, but I take responsibility for what I did. However, it was an accident and an innocent mistake.

What you did, Mr. Hoonigan, borders on reckless endangerment and could have landed your ass in jail if an accident occurred; I have a dashcam, and if someone were to total my truck as a result of something they did on purpose, I would be very vindictive and go out of my way to make sure the judge threw the book at them.

This is a story I've been meaning to tell everybody since the incident with the redlight runner in the white Honda last month...

I forget when this was, but I believe it was before COVID. My aunt lives in the Lehigh Valley area, and at the time was working at a grocery store in the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley, which is in Center Valley. One of her coworkers was a woman in her early 80s who drove a late model Jeep Wrangler that had been paid for by her wealthy son. On her way into work one morning, on a clear and sunny day, she just blew through a red light probably two tenths of a mile from work and nailed a car with a family in it. Both the Jeep and the other vehicle were totaled, and people died.

She had no criminal record, she had a clean driving record, she was sober, and she had no known cognitive issues. She just drove right through the red light, no rhyme or reason.

She ended up with a felony conviction and lost her driver's license for good, but due to her age, the judge and prosecutor opted not to send her to jail. My cousin (aunt's daughter) and I discussed this at great length and both agreed that while she should have gotten in trouble, there was absolutely nothing to be gained from jailing an 80-something grandmother. Because the Jeep was titled in the son's name and on his insurance policy, the family of the deceased tried unsuccessfully to sue the son for more money than was paid.

Worse than drinking a beer or two before driving is thinking that uploading that status update to Facebook is more important than safe driving, then flipping off and brake-checking the first driver who honks at you out of frustration; Central Bucks is full of these assholes...

Earlier this evening some Asshat on a sportbike was flying between traffic in the fast and slow lanes, easily doing 70 in a 35, honestly expected to see him as a pancake on the road.
