The specialists said he was on the “autism spectrum” just before his second birthday.

What led them to their conclusion? Lack of social interaction?

    Good God!

    image.jpg image.jpg

We were visiting family in Norfolk just before Christmas, and it was relatively mild.

Now it's in the high twenties there with a windchill that makes it feel like 18!

It was not one thing but a few things. He is not very verbal. He is slowly starting to speak.

He likes repetitive action or things. He will do the same action or play the same song or video over and over sometimes for hours.

He has do things or go places a certain way. If the schedule is interupted he has a meltdown.

He is not very social. Only plays with children in his special ed class or children of close friends or relatives.

Did they not try OCD diagnosis trial first? I find the social interaction maybe attributed to him being introverted possibly.

I understand where you're coming from with the whole meltdown thing. That was a bit problem with me when I was younger, right up until high school. Sometimes I sill have meltdowns today, though they aren't in the same category. If anyone disrupts my schedule, I am none too happy about it. Luckily my boss understands Aspergers very well.

For example, last September she had to explain to a nearby small business owner that I had Aspergers and tended to get very aggressive when people I don't know disrupt my schedule, after this business owner had pulled up in his Maserati claiming that the unmarked spot I'd been given permission to park in was. Actually, he began screaming at right out of the gate, and said he'd have my truck towed if I didn't move.

Screaming at me and threatening my truck in any way is a very bad idea.

Luckily, we shook hands and I apologized. We are on quite good terms now.

I am very social and have had lots of friends. Even when I was younger I had plenty of "normal" friends.

To be perfectly honest, so-called "special ed" kids tend to get on my nerves. They are on a different level than me and they just annoy me. In high school, an intellectually disabled student clobbered me in the head with a wooden tennis racket for joking around with him (I called him a somewhat mean name, but nothing that warranted a tennis racket to the head).

So yeah, I had very little issues socializing, but I sometimes don't have a very good social filter...

With regards to everything else you mentioned, I regularly watched the same movies over and over again as a kid. I watched the original 1961 animated version of 101 Dalmatians so many times that the VHS tape wore out!

Today, I will listen to the same songs over and over again in my truck.

As for speaking, I didn't begin speaking in complete sentences until I was 3, but English/writing became one of my best subjects by the 4th grade!

    @Iamraiderpower

One thing that really annoys me is when people illegally park their vehicles on the alley in front of my work so they can go grab sandwiches!

However, in this case I'll give them a pass because they have a 2012-2015 DCLB Limited!
