It was after 5pm at this point, which meant all regular vets would be closed. Luckily, there's an emergency vet on Easton Road that I drive past everyday. I still thought he was a $2,000+ English Bulldog, so I figured he had to have a chip. The trauma center was open, and the vet scanned his chip. Unfortunately, the chip had not been registered. In the meantime, my dad was on the phone with the local police, and they were about to take the dog to a shelter for the night. Luckily, the vet called the microchip company, gave them the serial number of the chip, and was able to get the owners' contact info.

She contacted the owners, and they ended up beating the police there. My dad called the police again, thanked them, and told them the crisis was averted...

So, the dog's owners showed up, and they were an older couple from Doylestown Borough. So, it turns out the dog's name is Bentley and he's about two years old. He is also not a purebred English Bulldog, just as the vet suspected upon looking at him. He's actually a Boxer/Bulldog mix.

Apparently, they'd taken Bentley to a park about two miles from my parents' house and let him run around off the leash. Bentley saw a deer, took off after the deer, and disappeared (I knew a Bulldog couldn't have made it from Doylestown to where I live as quickly Bentley did). Bentley's owners had been looking for him over an hour by the time the vet called them.

Bentley's owners were very grateful and wanted to pay us. My dad and I said no. They wanted our address so they could send us a bottle of wine. Again, we said no...

Just seeing him safely reunited with his owners was reward enough!

Here are some pictures I took of Bentley in the vet's office...

There was a kitten in a cage in the waiting room, and Bentley wanted to go investigate. Bentley was not the slightest bit aggressive toward the cat...

My dad is going to buy a leftover 2017 Ford Expedition, as in one with the 3.5L Ecoboost!

He has a 2013 Honda Pilot Touring 4WD with like 85K miles on it, and apparently there's this class action lawsuit pending against Honda because the 3.5L V6 with active fuel management (shuts off two cylinders to conserve gas) has the potential to start burning oil before the odometer even hits 100K...

LOL, have you ever met a dog who was happy to go to the vet?

When the vet was scanning the microchip, all Bentley wanted to do was play. After a while, he just climbed into that chair and sat there until "mommy and daddy" arrived.

No correlation. Just apparently a lot of people with higher-end 2nd Gen Pilots have experienced engines burning oil. The base model does not have the cylinder shutoff and hasn't been experiencing this problem...

Also, my dad's Pilot isn't burning oil, but he's been wanting an Expedition for a while and he wants to get rid of the Pilot before it does start burning oil...

Yea my wife’s 2011 did that as we were getting ready to trade it in at 70k miles.

Beware the 3.5 ecofail likes to burn oil too. Just google and YouTube 3.5 ecoboost expedition burning oil and check out the smoke shows

Valve seals they wear prematurely and the oil consumption begins and eventually fouls out a plug the begins running like sheet prompting 2 CEL codes IIRC

When we were living in Washington, some other friends of mine weren't allowed to watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone because of their parents' religious beliefs!

They were also forbidden by their parents from watching Recess: School's Out (which is rated G), because of the movie's depiction of children talking back to adults (I say again it was a G-rated movie, based on a Disney animated series for kids)!

I don't think it's any coincidence that this awesome dog was named after one of my favorite cars!

I texted my boss a picture of Bentley, and she's like "Did you find the owner? I think you should keep him."
