Keep in mind this is all dad-dependent...

I do not have the money for a new truck right now. I could get ten grand from selling mine (I'd never trade; the dealer would screw me), and put that towards a new one. It would be up to my dad whether he finances the rest or pays cash...

If my dad bought me a new Tacoma, it would have to be a 4x4, it would have to be 2.7L, and it would have to be either black or red...

My dad would pay for the truck, and I'd buy those sick TRD wheels!

But seriously, I love my regular cab! I just wish it was a 4x4 sometimes!

I think getting that 18Taco would be a beneficial move all around if your pops could swing it.

Thing is, my '10 has been good to me. I'd have a bit of a hard time parting with her...

My dad is about to buy a new SUV, so I don't think we'll be getting a new Tacoma anytime soon! I just got off the phone with him...

However, since my TW buddies don't seem to have a problem with the 3rd Gen I've spec'd, that might be my next truck once I get a full-time job!

But I really like my silver 2010 RC.

Also, I have in-dash navigation now. If I got a 2018, I'd replace the speakers at most. I like the new Entune system. However, it would mean going back to the stupid dash-top portable Garmin GPS.

Time will only tell about the GR but in Charlie’s situation, the 4banger is most likely best suited for him if I were to guess

And I'm still really attached to old "Emma." She's never let me down...

I don’t blame ya, but if the opportunity presents itself for a well equipped upgrade I would take it

That's a big if, specifically if my dad is willing to buy a $30K truck!

Honestly, I don't want another truck from my dad. It's one thing if he buys me a base model Tacoma and I hold onto it for years...

But why would you sell a perfectly good Tacoma and buy another?

My friend and I laugh at another friend of mine whose rich dad buys him a new car ever 6 months to a year, and he's got no job and is on social security disability.

I'd rather keep driving Emma than get another handout from my dad. People will think I'm a spoiled brat!

My dad wants to get me a vehicle with automatic braking because he thinks it'll reduce my risk of having an accident.

That’s what it’s there for and it helps.

As far as what people would think, read this phrase carefully.

Those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Just seems kinda silly to get rid of a perfectly good truck for one feature.

Sounds like multiple features to me. TSS, extra seating, 4x4

All I care about is the 4x4 and automatic braking.

If I need extra seating, my dad lets me borrow the Pilot which also has all-wheel drive.

I just want to be more responsible and pay for my next truck on my own.

Well that’s commendable you want to pay for your next rig, but the flip side is maybe your pops is wanting to reward you for being a responsible young man. If he is offering, maybe meet him in the middle so you can say you helped pay for it. But don’t completely shun his offer because your ego is telling you to pay for it, you just might knock his want to do something for you again. I can’t wait til my kid(s) are old enough for me to do things like this for them. Seeing my kid(s) be responsible and get nicer things in life than I did growing up is something that will make me happy. I want them to have everything I didn’t.

If my dad were to say "I'll buy you that truck next week" or "in three months," I would take it. However, he says I'm not getting a new truck right now. He's getting a whole bunch of shit done to the house that takes precedent over a new truck. He also has his heart set on a new Ford Expedition.
