    This is probably one of those classic "No shit, Sherlock" moments, but here it goes...

    A guy I know got me into a Rolls-Royce and Bentley group on Facebook, the kind of group where you have to get approval from an administrator or another member has to add you.

    One thing I have very quickly noticed is that a lot of the guys in this group are very ill-informed about Aspergers Syndrome. They just see an annoying twat who acts a bit immature for his age, asks too many questions, and unintentionally dominates conversations.

    That fact that a lot of the group members are from Europe and Asia really seems to exacerbate things, as foreigners tend to paint Americans with a very broad (and negative) brush.

    Then, as a rule of thumb it is safe to assume that the typical Rolls-Royce/Bentley owner is very well-off financially, and some (not all) of these elites look down on anybody who doesn't make as much money as them...

    No...

    And then one obnoxious trait I've noticed about some Rolls-Royce owners is that they really do not like pickup trucks!

    Some of them wrongfully assume that pickup truck owners are a bunch of brash rednecks...

    @Jamesboy2233 , you've probably experienced this before...

    @Iamraiderpower
    @Plain Jane Taco

    This really pisses me off...

    People who don't take me seriously it decide to play "hall monitor" and lecture/scold me for something they didn't like, simply because I'm young, without even bothering to get to know me first!

    People who do this are almost always at least fifteen years older than me. Most are in their forties and fifties. It is almost always white men between the ages of 45 and 60 (sometimes younger, sometimes older). In addition to not taking me seriously and/or second-guessing me, these random people also think it is their job to critique me with regards to how I live my life!

    A perfect example would be this one time I was grocery shopping for my mom back in like 2014. It was a cold day, and I wasn't parked close to the cart return. I pushed my cart full of groceries out to my Tacoma, crammed the truck full of groceries, and...GASP! I didn't put the cart back!

    Right when I was about to leave, my mom texted me with a last minute item she'd forgotten to add.

    I get out of the truck and start to head back in the direction of the grocery store. At this point, a rugged-looking guy in his fifties, who happens to be parked near me, rolls down the window of his Chevy work truck (it was big and white, with a utility body on the back) and starts ranting at me about not putting the cart back. If I remember correctly, I just apologized under my breath and walked away...

    By leaving a cart in a random place in the lot, you caused increased risk of damage to other people’s vehicles. Older people are usually more likely to point that kind of stuff out to you, but most others are probably thinking the same.

    How do you know some of those haven't been bitched at before?

    More than once I've saved a vehicle from damage because of a runaway cart that someone lazily left behind.

    Once was just recently at a local Walmart. Watched a lady gentle let go of the cart's handle to see if it would stay. She got in her car and pulled foward and as she did the cart began to roll down toward a very clean older F150 with Vietnam Vet tags. I tracked it down and stopped it and flipped off the bitch as she drove out the bottom of the parking lot.

    About a year ago I saved a Subaru Outback from a charging cart at Target that a wind gust caught. The driver never knew...but would no doubt have been thankful.

    So....from another 49 year old white man....PUT THE FUCKING CART UP!

    It also makes life a bit easier for the poor soul that has to go collect them....rain or shine....hot or cold

    It is true that people do it all the time. It’s also annoying to the people who don’t do it.

    If you knowingly do something that you know annoys people, you have to be prepared for the response.

    As an example, let’s say you’re in a hurry and you’re driving on the shoulder to pass stopped traffic, you should be prepared for some flipped fingers, some honking, and maybe even someone blocking you.

    I know passing on shoulder is worse than leaving a cart in the lot, but both actions are breaking the social contract, and are both caused by people prioritizing themselves over others.

    I've saved cars from cart damage before...

    Also, I stopped some woman in a Pathfinder from driving off with part of her bumper valance hanging off and fixed it for her. I ran into her at Puck when I was off the clock and she introduced me to her friends and bought me a drink!

    How about this one?

    The bald guy in the Yukon who didn't like that I'd inadvertently cut off two cars while making a left turn (total mistake) and thought it would be a good idea to chase me almost all the way home (about two miles) and start swearing at me with his kids in the truck...

    I didn't even know he was back there until he pulled up beside me at a red light (I was going straight and he was going right) and started screaming at me! I had the radio on and saw this bald guy screaming at me. Rather annoyed that he'd interrupted my jam, and completely unaware of why he was screaming at me, I turned down the radio and and rather rudely said "What?!?!" The fact that I was seemingly unaware of his presence pissed him off even more, and he just started swearing. I responded by turning the radio back up and ignoring him until the light turned green.

    One time in 2013 a kid put his right hand on his dad's minivan and stretched his left arm across the hood of my Tacoma, and started doing pull-ups. Keep in mind that I was in the truck listening to the radio, and I saw the whole thing. He just blatantly started doing pull-ups on my fucking truck that I'd just washed, so I blasted the horn and scared the shit out of the kid.

    I'm with ya on people that read into other people's business too much, there's a line between safety/well being and I just wanna police other people. My neighbors are HOA freaks that just love to leave notes on my cans, doors, cars. I like to leave their little notes back on their cans and such now. I always have my shit in early but I have lots of friends and those friends have cars so sometimes we have some street parked and that's what peeves the neighbors the most. One of my neighbors had the audacity to come over and chew me out about my cars on the street while he had his class A motorhome shitpile parked on the street. I just politely agreed to move mine and offered to take his to a scrapper friend of mine.

    I know this is a couple years old now but just saw this thread for the first time and started reading since my 5 year old son was diagnosed as a provisional case of autism. Don’t really have time to read through all these posts but wanted to reach out here.

    My son was also diagnosed around his 2nd birthday. He is high functioning and most people would never know but he does have his autistic tendancies.

    I didn’t have the slightest clue about autism beforehand. My wife does a lot of reading and social pages for children with autism and learns a lot through that I guess. I’ve never really took the time to do so since she did so much. I’m not much of a reader so it’s hard for me to keep my head into things for too long so I just have always went by her knowledge. Not to mention a busy schedule.

    Anyway I don’t mean to ramble or highjack the op’s thread, just wanted to say maybe we need a thread on here to help us men on the parenting and even marriage part of having children with autism. Our son is pretty normal for the most part but lacks socially. Even so, it’s hard on a marriage sometimes. So if you ever want or need to discuss any of this maybe we could get a thread or even pm me. Idk that I’d be much help but there are times I’ve felt it might be good to speak with other fathers to learn how they deal with certain aspects of the whole thing, family and all.

    When we (my parents and me, that is) still lived in our old house (a townhouse), there was this older couple (60s) who lived across the street in a middle unit. We lived in an end unit, which had a 2-car garage and a huge driveway. Their house had a 1-car garage and a narrow driveway. They were in some kind of business involving organs (like the instrument, LOL; not internal organs) and their garage was packed full of electric organs and boxes. They had a 2005 Ford Expedition and a big old Chevy conversion van.

    They would regularly park this huge van in the "guest space" in front of our house, and this irritated us and our neighbors. Once on Halloween (or a day before) in 2011 or 2012 (may have been 2010), I was outside decorating the house. The wife, named Marlene, walked into my yard and rather rudely asked "How many freakin' cars do you people have?" I forget what car was where, but my aunt and Grandma had come to visit. At the time, my mom had a 2004 Honda Odyssey, my dad had a 2008 Acura TL, and I had my 2010 Tacoma. My aunt's Jeep and my grandma's Lexus were also present, so there were four vehicles in our driveway and at least one in one of the guest spaces. I answered Marlene's demand like any other question, saying that we had family over, and the Jeep and the Lexus belonged to my aunt and grandma, respectively.

    Marlene just stormed off in a huff...

    Remind me again how it's my fault (or even my problem) that you and your husband drive the two biggest types of passenger vehicle there are, and you didn't spent the extra money to get an end unit with more parking?

    I have a large driveway three car garage and plenty if curb just in front of my house. We never park in front of other houses yet these old bastards still complain. At this point I don't care and I don't listen to them and I have asked both to stop leaving little notes of litter on my cars.

    Speaking of leaving shit on parked vehicles...

    When I was still in college, there was an epidemic of unauthorized solicitors leaving business cards under windshield wipers and in the rubber window seals of vehicles in the student parking lots.

    On numerous occasions, I would come out to my truck after class and find a business card for one of those pyramid schemes that typically targets college students (like Cutco Cutlery). Initially, I just ignored the business cards and threw them away.

    One day, however, it rained while I was in class. I came back out to my truck after class and found a soggy mess of what had once been a business card stuck to my driver's window! I was pissed, because the fucking thing had left this yucky residue all over the window of my truck, which at the time wasn't even two years old! I immediately went to security, and they confirmed what I'd suspected...

    Third parties were not allowed to solicit on campus without official authorization. They took down the info on the card and I went on my way. However, I came out to my truck after a rainstorm at least one more time and found a soggy business card stuck to the window...

    A lot of the encounters with naysayers have nothing to do with driving, as well...
