Yeah, but cassette player work out nicely because they often add to the value of a classic car, and you can play an iPod through them!

My uncle's '71 VW Bus is a perfect example of the latter...

Playing through two Pioneer 6x9s, this older JVC tape deck actually sounds great!

I'm just going to put this out there...

One of the biggest turn-ons for me when it comes to women (not necessarily sexually but in general) is this...

While I would not want to marry an ugly woman, beauty for me is only skin-deep. My ideal girlfriend or wife is very confident and sure of herself. She has high self-esteem and/or just doesn't really give a shit what people think of her. She is independent and capable of taking care of herself...

One of my biggest annoyances would be people (not just women, but people) who are perfectly capable of driving safely, have no medical problems that would prevent them from getting a driver's license, and live in an area that is very car-dependent, but choose not to get a license!

I know plenty of people who are well into their thirties and have no medical/mental problems, but have never held a driver's license because they've lived in the city most of their lives. My friend Mike's ex-boyfriend is like 34 or 35, lives in Philly, and has a great job at a law firm. He always used Uber or public transportation, and my friend Mike (who is like 6-7 years younger than his ex was, but has a license and his own car) drove him around too.

I should point out right now that I have two friends named Mike, both roughly the same age. The one I mentioned above is openly gay and is not on the spectrum. The other Mike does have Aspergers and is straight, and his name will be coming up a lot in this thread.

Mike with AS does not have a driver's license, but only 50% of people with Aspergers ever get a license, and sometimes I do wonder if Mike actually has the attention span to drive on a public road...

Anyway, people with AS get a pass, since only 50% of us end up learning to drive and get a license.

What annoys me is the number of young adults getting licenses has declined sharply in the last couple of decades. I've talked to girls on dating sites and in person, and an amazing number of girls (ages 19-30 who have lived their entire lives in the suburbs and don't have any physical or mental problems, but still don't have driver's licenses). It's bad enough that these days, most people under the age of 30 (myself not included) can't drive a stick shift...

So yeah, I want a woman who is strong, intelligent, kind and friendly but at the same time doesn't take shit from anybody, is reasonably well-educated, and yes, knows how to drive...

And stupid women are a huge boner-killer for me...

I'm not talking about lacking basic automotive knowledge (plenty of my guy friends don't know much about vehicles). My boss is quite intelligent, but she doesn't know much about cars and doesn't care to learn. She knows that the oil needs to be changed 3K-5K miles, that a check engine light could be a problem, and that some noises are not normal...

Also, I enjoy educating uninformed non-gearheads (both men and women) about vehicles.

What talking are people who are genuinely stupid...

Not people with any kind of intellectual disabilities, people who had some sort of traumatic brain injury, or even people with average intelligence...

One of my female coworkers (who happens to be blonde) bought a '97 Jeep Wrangler without knowing the Jeep came from the factory without A/C. She just assumed it was broken...

I still give her shit for it to this day, but she's not stupid.

Also, my boss (the Korean woman who's about 4 months older than me) once told me that she thinks I'm the smartest employee at her bar, and even that she thinks I'm smarter than her! When your boss of all people tells you that they think you're smarter than them, it's a bit of an ego-inflator...:D

The kitchen at work uses these spring rolls to make certain items on the menu, and the only place that sells them is Assi, a mostly Asian (but technically international) food market.

    Feeling a bit confused here...

Just drove from work to Acme to pick up these specific flatbreads that our cook wants, and two people flashed their brights at me. The unwritten/unofficial rules of driving typically state that this means your headlights are off or there is a speed trap up ahead...

Both times I checked my lights and they were on. After the second time I got a bit worried and wondered if both of my headlights were malfunctioning (my truck is pretty consistent and predictable in terms of reliability, but stranger things have happened with other vehicles I've driven). I checked my headlights as soon as I got to Acme, and as you can see they work...

My ex-wife is 29 and I doubt she could manage to get the car out of the driveway without hitting something.

I had a Pioneer single-DIN head unit and Pioneer component speaker system installed in my truck in April 2013.

In 2016, I decided I wanted a backup camera so I got a Sony double-DIN touch-screen head unit in September of that year. The Sony ended up being a lemon and was starting to have serious problems by May 2017. I could have exchanged the Sony for another Sony, but I decided I wanted in-dash GPS.

The GPS version of the Sony model I had was considerably more expensive. The Boss was $30 cheaper than the Sony and had GPS so that's what I exchanged it for. Also, all other double-DIN GPS units seemed to have external modules whereas the Boss's is built-in...

As soon as my neighbor and I installed the Boss, I realized that it wasn't properly reading the files on my iPod Nano when I plugged it in through USB.

I've been using a 3.5mm AUX cord since last May.

I finally called Crutchfield last week and found out that my $250 Boss head unit doesn't have Apple or Android software.

I've been satisfied with the Boss head unit, but I'm a bit pissed that it won't read my iPod because I've haven't had to use an aux cord since I had my stock stereo...

One of the guys who regularly performs at the bar where I work is also a backup sound guy...

He drives a 2013 Honda Pilot, and I told him about people flashing their brights at me when I got back from running that errand. He used to have an old 2003ish Chevy Trailblazer prior to buying the Pilot, and the Trailblazer's headlights were different than the Pilot's. The Pilot's headlights are higher off the ground and more truck-like. He told me that after buying the Pilot, a lot of people would flash their brights at him because the angle of the lights on his Pilot made them think his brights were on...

My Tacoma is lifted and has LED headlights and nobody has ever flashed their lights at me. Maybe there was something else they were trying to bring your attention to? Gas tank flap open? Something hanging under your truck?

    Here ya go...

One no-frills, stripped-down 1989 Suburban 2500! Power steering and power brakes had been standard on these trucks for a while by 1989, but that's about all this truck has...

No air-conditioning, no intermittent wipers, no tilt wheel, crank windows, and vinyl seats!

This Suburban also has the RARE 4-speed manual "granny tranny." For all you laypeople, a "granny tranny" is not a traditional 4-speed with overdrive, but rather a 3-speed manual transmission that has a low/creeper gear in addition to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th forward gears, and reverse...

Unlike a traditional manual transmission, you always start out in 2nd gear under normal circumstances...

This Suburban is set up for serious hauling and off-roading. It has factory 4.10 gears and a factory G80 rear...

I do not know what radio it was originally ordered with (I'm guessing just the basic AM radio/digital clock), but at the time these pictures were taken, this Burb had a newer Alpine AM/FM CD player with the factory speakers in the dash and a pair of Bose home theater speakers rigged up in the back...

I can see my gas tank flap in my side-view mirror and it was fine. I look at the truck and nothing seemed out of the ordinary...

Go back and look at it again... I was in the middle of typing it up and hadn't finished yet. Someone else posted on my thread, I responded to them, and the two posts got combined...

I recognize that I didn't have many ideas to begin with, but I'm out of ideas.
