Hmmm, I’m not sure about this. The refrigerant in a closed AC system should be good for the life of the vehicle. If the refrigerant levels drop, it means there’s a leak, otherwise it’s not like it disappears.

My current rig is the only auto I've ever owned. I would love for it to be a 6 speed. But it is what it is

Yes it's a closed system but the refrigerant will find a way out if given enough time. If you can go 6-7 yrs between re-charging then yes technically that is a leak, but you are going to have a hard time locating the source of that leak. A slow leak (6-7 yrs) like that isn't going to leave a lot of evidence behind. By evidence I mean oily residue from the lubricant that is usually left behind. You can try with the electronic leak detector bit those things often dont yeild any answers

Asking an a/c system to stay full for the life of the vehicle is like asking the air to stay in the tires for the life of the vehicle.

Right at 2000 sq ft, with 3.5 ton total. The bottom floor is serviced by the 2 ton Carrier unit and the 2nd floor the 1.5 ton Rheem unit. Bottom floor has a bit more square footage.

And it's gets quite warm here in the summer.

And you originally had two 1.5-ton Tappan units?

Mine was definitely low on refrigerant last June...

Now it seems to be working just fine!

Dude, everyone knows you’re supposed to replace the air in tires every oil change. Old air reduces gas mileage and wears down tires faster. New air in tires has newness and airiness, and is therefore better for the engine. Air only has a lifespan of up to 10k miles, and then it’s all downhill from there.

Right. At 12 years old...the left side unit had a compressor failure. No point in putting $3k into a system that old. So in August of last year the Carrier heat pump along with a new air exchanger were installed.

In November the right side unit was damaged by the roofing company replacing my roof. The company they work with deals in Aries, Lenox and Rheem. We settled on the Rheem unit and corresponding air exchanger. 1.5 ton is plenty to service the square footage upstairs.

So I have 2 different brands. No biggie to me. Once the new Carrier unit was installed they didn't match anyway. Besides....it cost me $0. Who am I to complain?

My 2 stats match though. Just so happened that both companies carried the Honeywell ProSeries

Have you ever been in a situation where a funny joke is told, and someone with you just doesn't get it...?

Maybe you tell the joke, maybe someone else with you tells the joke, or maybe you hear it on TV or the radio...

I've mentioned my friend and fellow Aspie, Doug, several times before in this thread...

One night, we were at Doug's parents' house watching Family Guy. In this particular episode, I think Peter and Lois bought a new HDTV, and they were watching The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Peter commented that the quality of the picture was so good, that you could even see Ellen DeGeneres's breath. The image on the HDTV then shows fish coming out of Ellen's mouth...

I got the joke immediately and started laughing uncontrollably. Doug, meanwhile, draws a blank and says that he doesn't get it...

I get my laughter under control and say to Doug, "So you know you how Ellen DeGeneres is a lesbian?"

    Doug's like, "Yeah..."

I then proceeded to explain to Doug the whole myth/joke about how pussy smells like fish, and how since Ellen DeGeneres was a lesbian, she would eat out women...

If I remember correctly, I then had to explain to Doug what eating out was because he didn't know what that meant either...

Keep in mind that we were both probably 23-24 years old at the time...

By this time, the joke ceased to be funny...

Lack of knowledge of basic sexual slang is something that I find rather amusing...

One time in September 2016, we were at the home of a mutual friend (a woman my age who also has AS) for the friend's birthday. We were playing Cards Against Humanity on the back porch, and one of the cards had a reference to the word queef. My friend Dave (non-AS) and his Russian wife, Olga (non-AS), were present at the party. Dave's wife, who has spoken English since second grade but still speaks with a thick Russian accent, got the "Queef" card. Olga couldn't pronounce it, and I had to help her with this (can anybody say "awkward"?.

At the same time, another of our female friends with AS, asked "What's that?" This woman was about 27 years old at the time and is on the higher-functioning end of the spectrum, and our 29-year old gay male friend (who doesn't have AS) had to explain what a "queef" was. His exact words were "It's a vagina fart." The girl with AS said "Ah," and Olga laughed a bit...

In Olga's defense, the word "queef" just isn't used in Russia...

The American-born/American-raised girl with AS legitimately did not know what it meant!

I'm surprised that a 2,000 square foot house has two units!

Our old house in Doylestown (2-story/4-bedroom colonial built in approximately 1988) only had one A/C unit (I think it was a 4-ton)

Our house in Virginia Beach (built in 1996; we lived there from 1998-2000; pictured below) was just a tad under 2,000 square feet and had only one unit. Looking at the house from the street like it is in the picture, the air-conditioner was located on the left side of the house towards the back. The gas furnace was located in the attic (no basements in Virginia Beach due to high water table)...

My parents' current house (built in 2015-2016) is about 2,900 square feet and came standard with two units.

Our townhouse (built in 2007; we lived there from 2007-2016) was about 2,300-2,500 square feet and the 3-bedroom version (Which we had) did not come with dual-zone by default. My parents paid an extra $6,000 for the the second system, which is actually about right (I think Toll Brothers merely broke even on the cost the second system).

Do not EVER put AC Pro in your truck. AC requires 2 things: R134A and oil. Anything else will eventually fuck it up. Trust me on this, I have... experience.

Good to know! Glad I went to the mechanic! Let me guess, you fucked up your system?

You don't even need a license to buy a tank of R134a, do you?
