Was yours automatic or stick shift?

 

Unfortunately auto. 12 valve with factory leather and wood grain.

 

The Cummins 12V is one of the best diesel engines ever installed in a pickup truck in my opinion...

The Dodge-supplied 4-speed auto, however, was absolute junk and not up to handling the torque of the Cummins!

 

It's not that I don't think it's good...

I think all Cummins engines in the Dodge trucks are good!

The 12V is just simpler, and it was produced prior to the EPA stepping in and clamping down on emissions regulations...

One notable problem with the 1989-1997 Cummins engines, however, is the killer dowel pin...

I am 99% sure this one is actually a gasser (note the lack of Cummins Turbo Diesel under the 3500 emblem on the door) and it's in rough condition, but I still think it's a pretty cool-looking truck. I am unsure of whether or not it's a V8 or a V10 though...

I've also heard that older mechanical diesel engines are tough enough to run on home heating oil!
