    I never touched that part. The stereo ran a little hot at times. My Sony ran a bit hot, and my Boss also runs a bit hot...

    I noticed a burning plastic smell with my PlayStation 3 before...

    I also notice that from time to time in my truck now. It was probably just a sticker melting...

    You wired it in the dark? Double check all of your wiring connections. But if it makes you feel any better, it did run hot in my Tacoma.

    You did get it working though?

    This is a fairly high-tech unit compared to the Sony it replaced. It's also in a very tight space (even tighter than in my Taco), so I'm thinking the heat is normal...

    I've seriously never touched that heat sync...

    The green Tacoma was a replacement for my '98 Jeep Wrangler (green) that I had to get rid of because it just wasn't very safe to carry the kids in. I didn't realize how cool the Spruce Mica was until I saw it in the sunshine.

    That unit cost me $130 back in 2013...

    A similar unit will set you back $140-$150 today!

    Also, I have not heard of car stereos causing fires.
