I don't blame them. I'd lock up my 8-year old Tacoma that's probably worth about $10K too!

Have you ever driven a 2.7L Taco?

 

When you floor it to 60 from a dead stop (at least in my truck), it's what's you'd expect from a 3,100-pound truck with a 4-cylinder engine. It's not terribly slow, but it's not a sports car. I'd say my truck is very quick getting to 50-60 MPH from almost a dead stop. If I'm trying to make it to 80-90 MPH (like trying to pass an 18-wheeler on the highway), that's when you realize you're driving a 4-banger/automatic pickup truck. The journey from about 55-60 to 80-90 is not a quick one, but it does get there...

At 90-100 MPH, my truck does not shake or feel unsafe. It is smooth and and quiet, and I've never realized I was going that fast until I looked down at the speedometer (One time I floored it because I thought some road raging rednecks were following me; the other couple of times I did it for fun).

Part of the reason my truck has good low-end acceleration is because it has 4.10 gears in the rear diff...

 

You've got 4.10s?

At the same time, however, I've heard that 4.10s are known for good initial acceleration, but once your get past a certain speed it seems to take longer...

Go figure, this is exactly how my truck behaves with the pedal to the floor...

What's the fastest your truck will go? I'm guessing 110-115. It is a V6, after all...

I think my truck is actually capable of 110-120, but it's got a governor/electronic limiter...

 

Unless you move to Germany and take the truck with you, or you plan on taking your truck to the dragstrip, you don't need to disable that...

 

So your truck is just like mine in that it starts bottoming out once you get past 75 MPH or so?

 

On another note, is that truck yours when you turn 18? Like, is your dad going to sign the title over to you?
