I don't think the property itself is terribly expensive by Doylestown Borough standards (I'm guessing $1.5 million to $2 million for the plot of land with the church in as-is condition...

They probably put half a million to a little over a million into renovating it...

Just those five central air-conditioners by themselves were probably close to fifty grand!

I've had the same one for 11 years. I'm on my parents' wireless plan and I don't know how easy it would be to swap (I definitely don't feel like paying).

I think it's just spam, especially the credit approval shit, since it's so close to tax day...

Here's an example of where I feel I was singled out because of my age, my appearance, or possibly because someone felt something was up with me because of certain mannerisms (but didn't know it was Aspergers/autism)...

In May 2011, just over a week after I got my driver's license, my dad and I went to Key West for Memorial Day Weekend. One of the things we did was rent jet skis (not actually jet skis, as you sat down to ride them; Wave Runner or Sea Doo would be the proper term?), and for some reason the people running the rental operation decided I had to take a knowledge test before they let me ride one...

Why do I think this is bullshit?!?! For starters, you were not allowed to take the skis out by yourself or as a pair. This was advertised as a tour around the island, where you went out in groups of 5-6 or more with a guide. At one point during each tour, the group was given about 20 minutes of free riding time where they could really enjoy the skis...

It's not like we were unsupervised out on the water with these things. What made me angry is that I was the only person in this group of more than a half-dozen people required to take this test, and they decided at the last possible fucking minute that I had to take it! The tour place was not that far from our hotel, so we got in our rented Dodge Nitro and drove over there probably less than thirty minutes before the tour was set to leave.

While my dad got us signed up, I walked around and took pictures with the understanding that all I'd have to do was show them my driver's license. Luckily, I'd gotten my genuine valid-for-four-years Pennsylvania license in the mail before we flew to Florida. In Pennsylvania, new licensees and people transferring an out-of-state license get a temporary license that's valid for like 15 days so PennDOT can verify their identity. I had my real license at this point, so there was no reason for them to suspect I was a new driver.

I would also like to point out that while I am no master boatman, I've been driving various watercraft since I was barely out diapers. This started with me sitting in my dad's lap and steering his Skeeter 16-foot outboard when I was three, and I was driving the thing on my own by the time I was seven! I've piloted everything from a tiller-steered Jon boat all the way up to a Grand Banks yacht!

About 9 months before we went to Key West, we rented wave runners during a trip to Cape May, New Jersey. The website for the rental company made it seem like you needed a driver's license to actually drive the skis. The problem was that I did not have a driver's license yet, only a learner's permit and a Pennsylvania photo ID. Luckily, I also had a military ID, so I left my state ID at our rented condo and brought my military ID with me. I told the rental clerk that I'd left my license at home by mistake, and that all I had was my military ID. They fell for it and let my dad rent a wave runner for me to drive! I would also like to point out that this rental company in Cape May did not require any stinking test...

Going back to the wave runner rental fiasco in Key West, my dad I both handed the rental clerk our licenses probably ten minutes before our tour group was set to depart. The bureaucrat working the rental counter decided I had to take this fucking knowledge test. It wasn't a test that you had to study for, either. I was given a book of various boating rules and facts, and the actual test. I was told I could use the book to answer the questions. My dad and I spent next 5 minutes furiously looking up answers to these questions, and I wrote them down. I ended up getting all of them right and was granted access to my own personal watercraft.

Part of the reason the rental agency in Cape May didn't require testing is probably because the Coast Guard restricted them to a specific area whereas the one in Key West took you all around the island. I still think it was bullshit though, because I was a 22-year old guy with a valid driver's license...

What the hell else did they want?!?!

In 2014, we rented wave runners during a family trip to visit my uncle in Myrtle Beach and I'm pretty sure I had to show my driver's license, but there were no tests or anything...

I'd also like to point out that a lot of the new PECO trucks have backup camera!

And no, I did not throw a fit...

I just did exactly what I was told because I wanted to rent a damn wave runner! My dad and I were both in agreement that it was fucking stupid for me to have to take that test though...

Maybe their insurance policy or State of Florida requires a test for people under age of 25?
Still easier for you to back up than a giant truck.

Well, I'm gonna be 29 in 3 days so it's a moot point!

Also, during the wave runner excursion in Myrtle Beach in 2014, my cousin Sara and her then-boyfriend Ryan (now they're engaged) were directly in front of me on the ride back to shore...

Ryan was driving and my Sara was on the back. Ryan thought his contact lens had come out and he abruptly let off the throttle to look for it. He went from going probably 30-40 MPH to a dead stop in a matter of seconds. I was a safe distance behind them, riding solo on my own watercraft, and there was a huge wave. I did not see them stop, and as I came over the wave, I almost landed directly on top of them! Luckily, my evasive maneuver at the last possible moment prevented disaster. When we got back to shore, I was pretty pissed at Ryan, and an argument over who was at fault immediately took place. I agreed that I should have been going slower, but that Ryan shouldn't have stopped when he knew there were other people behind him. I told Ryan that I thought he should have moved over slightly. In all fairness to him, I don't think he ever realized that there was a huge wave behind him and that I couldn't see him. I still think he still believes that I was blatantly going full throttle and simply was not paying attention, but I literally could not see him with that wave and had no reason to believe that he'd stopped. I was totally sober and looking straight ahead, so I still think it's less than 50% my fault. My anger was also induced by the fact that I was scared I had almost landed a wave runner on top of my cousin! Ryan was largely out of my ski's path and is also this huge guy. My cousin Sara is just an average-sized 20-something woman and the impact could have killed her!

All was forgiven within minutes, and made totally better with a few cold beers later that night. We just don't discuss that incident anymore because we know we are never going to agree on who was more at fault.

    What do you guys think?

I think its a situation where no one is at fault, but an accident was avoided.

Exactly! In the heat of the moment, I was just glad I hadn't crushed my cousin or her boyfriend, and that's why I was so angry! I could care less about the fucking wave runners!

you also shouldnt try to find fault of anyone in the situation. Chalk it up as disaster avoided and move on. Im finding a trend with you, and its potentially related to your "AssBurgers", in the sense of needing/wanting to find fault in anything thats going to/gone wrong.

There have been also plenty of times where I think it is a no "harm/no foul" situation and other people try to shift blame towards me...

A perfect example would be back in like 2007 or 2008 when I was working at the Doylestown Public Library, not as an official employee of the library, but through the school district's special education program...

I forget exactly what happened, but I was putting away books as per my job description, and there this guy sitting at one of the tables using his personal laptop. I think I bumped the table and knocked his laptop bag or possibly a stack of books off the table. I immediately apologized, and ever so nicely he said something like "No, it's totally my fault. You're good." No harm, no foul, right? Wrong!

My bitch job coach was right behind me and said something like "No, don't apologize to him, it's all his fault. I apologize." Just one of many situations between 2006 and 2009 that made me very resentful of both the special ed system, and society as a whole...

well unfortunately there are people in this world who are total asshats, and they are unfortunately in roles such as your job coach. Them saying that is disrespect. What they should have said was "Here let me help you charlie real quick. Sorry sir for knocking over your books" Then pulled you to the side and said "Good job for apologizing and doing your best to quickly rectify the situation."
