The SY and SZ cars use the GMT400 3-speed, built by GM to RR's specifications.

All SY and SZ cars, as well as the Camargue and Corniche, have the same 3-speed transmission used in the HD square bodies!

    I forget...

    Have you ever driven one?!?!

Did you see the thing my friend wrote comparing the quality and attention to detail of a 2018 Phantom to a 2018 Camry? Go to my "Rolls-Royce and Bentley thread".

Everyone, including one of my closest friends, and my one friend from Hong Kong, thinks I am going to own a Rolls-Royce one day. The problem is that I'm almost 30 and I haven't totally decided what I want to do for a permanent career.

In terms of actually buying a 1980s Rolls-Royce or Bentley, I could save up my money and have enough to pay cash for one in a couple of years. The cost of the actual cars are typically not that expensive (and yes, I do mean decent ones; brand new Civics cost more in some cases)!

The problem is the cost of routine maintenance, and don't even get me started if something actually breaks! Basically, something that costs a grand or so to fix on my Tacoma could approach the fair market of another Tacoma on a Rolls or Bentley!

would be a bad ass little ride though. I would drive the Taco to work though, judging from the stories youve told about the idiots that drive around there

Also, remember that "Janky Ass F150" from Fred Beans that I took a picture of, the custom one with a sticker of almost $72K?

I know of a 1965 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III with working A/C (converted to R134a) and a nicely-installed modern sound system. $75K for that beauty!

Tell me, which do you think is the better deal?!?!

No, it was sometime in February. Pretty sure you saw it...

If not, just search "Janky Ass F150" here on TW!

@Iamraiderpower had serious problems with his 2016 F150, that's why he referred to the F150 I photographed in that way...

My friend Mike finally got his learner's permit about a week ago (at 29 years old), and I gave him his first driving lesson in my Taco a few hours ago!

IMPORTANT NOTE: It was in the DMV parking lot, after hours, in the area where they conduct driving tests. I've been known to have more kindness than common sense at times, but I am not going let an inexperienced new driver take my truck out on a public road!

Before we even got going, I had to explain to Mike that you only use your left foot if driving a stick shift, and only your right foot is to be used for the gas and brake. Luckily, I was explained this to him while the truck was still in park. Mike has been driving a lawn tractor for a living for the better part of a decade, but he's never been behind the wheel of anything meant for use on public roads. Basically, a riding mower is one thing, but a 2010 Toyota Tacoma is a different animal! Once I explained to him the concept of only using his right foot for the brake and gas, and applying the brake to shift from park, he did as good as you'd expect a new driver with no experience to do. He was very "herky jerky" with the brake pedal, practically bring the Tacoma's back end into the air, and we would also freak out if he saw a car on the other side of the lot and slam on the brakes (typical new driver stuff).

    Here's the best part...

Mike didn't have his learner's permit with him and his mom is not going to be thrilled that I let him drive my truck, but I've been friends with Mike for the better part of a decade so I think she'll get over it...

And now Mike can brag that the first real vehicle he ever drove was a Toyota Tacoma!
