Interesting that Charlie is usually so prolific on the keyboard, but not in the case of providing details about his new girlfriend.

Getting your doors blown off by stock F150s would dishearten me at the track. Not worth any investment making that faster.

Honestly, just buy a car to take to the strip. You could dump 30k into that Tacoma to match the times you can get out of a used car designed to be quick for 5k. You can pickup a C6 Vette with less than 30k miles for 20k now.

    +1

I've seen a hyundai eleantra run a sub 10 second 1/4 mile.... the car means nothing, its all about the guts and the driver!!!

most drag racing is NOT heads up anyway... bracket racing is all about knowing your car and how you drive.

honestly with this philosophy there will always be some better base platform for any given event.
the point of racing is race what you brought....

insurance for a used Vet vs insurance for Charlies 4 banger taco....

that difference alone will pay for a few test and tune nights at the local strip and or a few autocross events...

With that philosophy you could bang a ugly chick if that's what you have access to but I would rather work on getting a hot one given the opportunity. I stand behind my opinion.

LOL, I should have said a dude could bang a goat but it's not really designed for it. I was trying to be a little PC.

There's this one really eccentric (I don't know what else you'd call a guy who drives one of the ugliest vehicles ever made and plays the accordion; he's also apparently quite wealthy) musician who plays at my bar every week. He has 4 Pontiac Azteks! Three of those (a 2001, a 2002, and a 2003) are in good condition and driven regularly. The fourth is a parts vehicle...

    Here is the 2003 Aztek...

I guess we will agree to disagree. The whole point of racing is to have something quick. Remember, although others have posted about other gens of Tacoma’s in this section... The 3rd gen (which I have) is very slow and not built for racing. That’s all I’m saying. If you can show me a built and fast 3rd gen that is reliable, then maybe I’ll change my mind.

Doesn’t need to be “fast and furious”, but to really race, unless you are racing on “pure consistency of times” the 3rd gen Taco is not a good candidate for racing on a track. Still love my truck... But I also understand what it’s built for. That’s being an off-road master!!!!
