The second-to-last picture shows a re-type of the Craigslist ad texted to me by the first potential buyer, and the last one came in while I was typing the original Facebook post. The 4th potential buyer doesn't even speak English!

 

A bunch of us were at Puck last night for my best friend John's gig. My friend Tom, the former bass player and vocalist in John's band before he moved to New York, drove all the way down here from New York. Tom just traded his aging 2010 Hyundai Elantra with like 150K miles, worn-out brakes, and tons of dents, for a brand new Hyundai Elantra GT. Tom loves his new Hyundai, but the performance of the factory stereo system is underwhelming to him. Specifically, it lacks bass. Seriously, who knows bass better than a bass guitarist?!?! So, Tom and I got to talking, and I told him about the recent improvements to my system. The last time Tom saw (and listened too) my Taco's stereo was last March, at which point I'd had the Pioneer AVH-1330NEX for a few days, but I still had my aging 5-year old Pioneer TS-A1305C component speaker system and NO subwoofer or external amp. It sounded impressive, but still distorted quite badly when pushed to its limits (in layperson's terms, cranked really loud). I don't think Tom is going to replace his speakers just yet, but he wants to add a basic powered sub to boost the bass level. Another friend, Jeff (also in John's band), has a 2016 Hyundai Elantra GT (Virtually identical, except Jeff's car doesn't have a backup camera and Tom's does). While very few sound systems (especially factory systems) can compare to what I've got in my truck now, I thought the stereo in Jeff's car was okay.


NOTE: The Pioneer is AVH-1330NEX head unit is NOT available on Crutchfield any longer.

Oh, and did you ever read Hank the Cowdog when you were a kid?

 

One of the main human characters was named "Slim Chance", LOL, and it took place in Texas!

All you really have to do to retrofit the system is suck all the old refrigerant and oil out, replace all lines and fittings, and replace the accumulator and drier. The compressor and condenser, the most expensive parts, can be reused.

 

Some compressors you do want to replace, but the big old Frigidaires in the 1980s Rolls-Royces can be reused. I've seen it...

 

I know exactly what you're talking about. Rolls-Royce Silver Clouds and Bentley S-series had them...

Someone probably paid like $23K for your Rodeo when it was new! Now it's worth less than the stereo in my Taco!
