A Tacoma can fit a lot more than a car. Before we had the Taco, we would borrow my cousins Silverado every time we bought something big for our house.

My point is, A car cannot do anything that a pickup or a big SUV can.

I might be going to the Diesel Pickup Powerfest at Buck Motorsports Park in Quarryville, or I might not. Some of you may remember that I drove all the way out there (about 2 hours one way) back in April, only to find that the season opener mud bog event had been cancelled due to rain that hadn't even started yet.

A week later, on Cinco de Mayo, I had an "unscheduled meeting" with an '05 Prius before I even got on the damn turnpike! This unfortunately ended up being my fault and resulted in approximately $950 in damage to my Taco, which is getting fixed in about two weeks. The police who responded even said I shouldn't let such a minor fender bender ruin my plans, and I was determined to drive out to Quarryville. Unfortunately, my mom didn't see it the same way and made me go home. So far, this seems to have been the only event at the Buck I'm interested in seeing that has not been cancelled!

Here we are almost a month later, and as of right now the diesel truck/sled pull is still on but thunderstorms are in the forecast and there may be a rain delay as a result.

I requested the afternoon off and my boss approved it, but I came into work today because I believed it would be cancelled. I'm going to call the main office at the Buck at 3pm and see if the event is still on. If it is, I might drive out there. If it ends up getting cancelled, I'll hit Tobias Frogg's in Lancaster for some frog legs and a beer before coming home. If at 3pm it ends up being cancelled, then I'll just work for as long as my boss needs me.

I stopped for gas not even 5 minutes ago and met this guy from North Carolina who was also getting gas. He has a 2003 AC 5-lug base model with auto, A/C, a tape deck, and no other options...

    image.jpg

The owner paid just $500 for an '03 Taco with 130K on the clock, no frame rust, automatic transmission, and working A/C!

    image.jpg

He has about 160K on it now, and he just drove it up from North Carolina!

One of the church bells here in Doylestown is actually playing Frank Sinatra's "Fly Me to the Moon"!

My primary job is to hop in my Tacoma, drive to the supermarket, and get whatever my coworkers need at a moment's notice...

In this case, the bartenders and servers working the patio are getting eaten alive by bugs!
