I think this is one of times when a group thinks they are annoyed by an individual but realize he actual does contribute to said group...

And also, once my eye is fully healed and the weather warms up, I'm gonna be doing two things. When I'm not working, I'll be going to car shows and vacationing with family, and the rest of the time I'll be, well, working. Puck's patio bar reopens for the season on St. Patrick's day and we are gonna be busy. Both myself and my Tacoma are very in-demand at Puck from March until October. Probably won't have much time for Tacoma World unless something major or exciting happens. I do however, plan on meeting up with the other Tacoma owners from my area this summer.

This actually happened about two weeks or so prior to me posting this. I just kept forgetting about it. My dad has a 2013 Honda Pilot Touring 4WD that he bought new, black with gray leather. The Pilot has about 70K miles but it's almost entirely highway miles and it is absolutely mint. A couple of little dents and dings, but not accidents and extraordinarily well-maintained. My dad is VERY OCD about vehicle maintenance and has kept every single service record since buying it new in May 2013. Aside from oil changes, other various routine preventive maintenance, and a new set of tires, the Pilot has never had a problem.

Last month, the parents and I went to a Kings of Leon concert at Wells Fargo Center in Philly. The concert was good and we left without incident. Unfortunately it was late and dark and the damage was not visible. My dad came outside the next morning to leave for work and found this...

    IMG_3077.jpg

My theory is that someone in a yellow (look at the color of the paint transfer) pickup truck or SUV (Dodge Ram Daytona or Nissan Xterra? Older Ford Escape?) sideswiped the Pilot and was either to drunk/high to notice, or did notice and simply didn't care. I'm guessing a combination of the two.

Based on the strong and unmistakable odor inside the arena, I'm guessing a lot of people were more than a little baked when they left.
What's ironic is that my dad purposely sought out a parking space where there weren't any cars around to avoid this exact scenario! When we came back out there were no vehicles around and we had no reason to suspect anything was wrong. My dad's taking it to the same guy who has fixed my Tacoma numerous times later this month for an estimate. Will probably just pay end up paying out pocket. I'm guessing $800 to $1,000 to fix the Pilot.

There's just no honor in this world anymore...

Some people just have no balls to admit when they made a mistake. At this point though, all you can really do is hope that karma comes and around and kicks them in the ass some day.

Did something similar that this reminds me of.

I was young and stupid and installing a sub/amp in my then new camry. Everything was all done - last thing I had to do was mount the amp. I put the amp in a spot in the trunk that looked great, shot a self tapper in to mount the amp....right through the trunk and out my rear quarter panel. I had no idea what I did until my father came out and started laughing his ass off. I realized what I did and went beserk lol. I had the camry for maybe 4 days before I did this lol

Had a bad experience with a harley owner. Was out with my oldest who was 4 at the time and my father in law. Pulled into a mcdonalds and right in front was a harley and its owner standing right next to it. My kid was interested in the motorcycle and asked the owner if he could look closer. Guys blankly stares at my son and says you can look at it from where you are and dont touch it. I was floored. Two things kept me in check, my son and father in law, otherwise there would probably be another story to tell. I've actually heard stories like this before, but never first hand.

I did numerous drunk repairs on my old Bronco. Always ended up with left over screws. Nothing actively fell off after a repair, so I guess Ford just included extras.

some people that live down the road from us had a brand new Dodge, within the last year he wrecked it numerous times, caught it on fire, and now it sits looking like it went through a demolition derby... some people just dont take care of their stuff.

$40 for the Pioneer head unit if you want it and live near me. I don't know if you have a black or silver dash bezel though. I have the remote and owner's manual, but somewhere between opening the box and having the head unit installed, the Bluetooth mic got lost. One of these can probably be easily ordered.

No, it's a middle-aged to older white guy. I've seen him getting in and out of the truck. A while before these pictures were taken, he actually caught me taking pictures of the truck one time from a distance, but didn't do anything about it...

I heard him say to his wife/lady friend that "Oh, he's just taking pictures of the truck." They then walked away. I'm guessing he realizes how unusual it is to see a late model Taco in such poor physical condition and has encountered people taking pictures before. I had been taking a picture with my phone to send a friend of mine who'd been busting my balls for all the times I'd dinged up my truck backing into things...

Also, I've said it before, my boss/best friend is an Asian woman who grew up in the Midwest, got her learner's permit at 14, and got her license at 16. She's in her late twenties and has been in two accidents in her whole life. Her first accident was NOT her fault, and the second one was her fault. Her accident involved a deer. She was driving her first car, an 1995ish Buick LeSabre, when a deer ran out of the woods and right into the side of the Buick. The deer lived, and the Buick was still driveable with no mechanical damage (engine, cooling, A/C, steering, etc). However, the car was like 10-12 years old at the time, and the insurance company totaled it.

Another close friend of mine is also Asian and he has only been in one very minor collision in which he rear-ended somebody back when he was a teenager. He was in his 1997 Oldsmobile, and the car had a busted headlight. Not only that, he has never gotten a ticket or even been pulled over. He's been driving for like 13 years.

Yes, I admit it is very fun to poke fun at Asians, the elderly, and women, when it comes to driving skills, but I prefer to take driving skills on a person-by-person/case-by-case basis and not generalize.

In my opinion, my white friends with driver's licenses are worse drivers than the Asian ones!
