Yeah, alot of these are pretty common here, it's what alot of people can afford.

If you stop and talk to them, will they acknowledge that you exist? I've read somewhere that they hate modern society.

 

They most certainly do not, and most of them actually have generators to run stuff like lights, fridges, and stoves. Some of them even have computers, just no internet! They are actually quite friendly as far as I know, but do not try to get with their daughters! Also, if an Amish needed a ride somewhere, it would not be against their religion to ride in my Tacoma or enjoy the many amenities it has to offer like the A/C and the stereo!

 

Your obsession with A/C and stereo systems is amazing.

 

In this case, those are about the only amenities my truck has. I've got crank windows and no cruise control, but the typical Amish horse-and-buggy makes my Taco look like a Rolls-Royce!

 

Lol, my dad once ran over a run away Amish horse. Two men in beards and straw hats were running after the horse, and my dad couldn't stop a 60,000 pound big rig in time. Sadly, the horse instantly died, and the big rig was totaled by the insurance.

 

I believe this was in the corn fields of Illinois, or Kentucky.

 

It was a 2005 Freightliner Columbia working for Werner Freight.

 

So I guess the Amish were pretty understanding there...?
