I'm just over 75 miles shy of 87,000 miles. On January 1st, 2018 I had about 79,500 miles on my truck, maybe a little less.

On June 25th, I had literally just under 84,300 miles.

I surpassed 86,000 on my way to Carlisle for the Truck Nationals on August 3rd. This means it's literally taken just three weeks to put almost a thousand miles on my truck!

    Sooo...

I know I've asked this question before but here it is again...

Who thinks I will hit 90,000 miles before winter officially begins (December 21st)?

Who thinks I will have surpassed 96K miles by the time of the Carlisle Truck Nationals next year (August 2nd-4th, 2018)? This would equal roughly 10,000 miles between the 2018 Truck Nationals and the 2019 Truck Nationals.

Who thinks I'll be at, or extremely close to 100,000 miles by Carlisle next year?

Who thinks I'll be over 100K before the end of 2019?!?!

Who thinks my Tacoma will be at or close to 200K by the time I sell it or relegate it to "spare vehicle" status?

Do just drive when you’re bored? If so I bet you hit those marks.

Not when I'm bored, but I do go to a lot of car shows. I've probably put over a thousand miles on my truck since April driving to car shows and related events!

It still starts the truck just fine, as well as unlocking both doors and locking the passenger door, but it will not lock the driver's door no matter how hard I try!

    IMG_9135.jpg

The driver's door locking issue has been going on for a few years and stopped briefly after I switched keys with one of my parents. The $2 copy from Home Cheapo* still locked the door last time I checked...

Wife’s car key for her Acura is all bent to hell and it’s works ok on the ignition switch.

She just uses the FOB to unlock the doors.

    True story...

Right after this happened, I texted a coworker at the pizza place where I'd been working at the time and told her I'd just been hit by a drunk driver...

Did she express even the slightest bit concern? NOPE!

She told me that I shouldn't be texting her for anything non-work-related...

The term "C-U-Next-Tuesday" comes to mind here...

My Tacoma is what @ALI3N_123 would call "poverty-spec"...

Rollup windows, manual locks, certainly no keyless entry...

It didn't even have intermittent wipers until I put them in!

    Time for a new key!

In my older truck I can pull the key out of the ignition while the truck is running...

Pretty sure any key will start it at this point.

Gotcha, they're pretty bad. I would get a new key btw. I've had to do this with previous cars. Toyota of course, cars outlast the key

    No idea.

A new key for my wife’s car was ridiculous though. Due to the chip they put in them now.

Might be cheaper to have two keys. One for the door and one for the ignition.

Ace hardware had a thing you could test your key to see if it had the chip. That's where I went

In the case of older Tacomas, the engine outlasts the actual truck!

One of the many reasons I dislike new vehicles...

Everything is electronic and they design them so they break early and you have to be dependent on the dealer for routine maintenance!
