It is common for people to set up an LLC in my state to register a vehicle. It is usually a supercar or a half million dollar plus motor home. You set up an entity in the state, the entity owns the vehicle, and you make sure your insurance knows what you are up to so they don't say tough shit if you ever need them. Cost prohibitive on a Tacoma. Most people do it here to avoid sales tax and registration fees from certain states, but we also don't have inspections so I suppose there is that. I can tell you you won't like the registration fees here compared to PA. When I lived in PA I think it was $36 to register a vehicle, here it would be more like $200. Add that and lawyers and probably an accountant and it isn't worth it unless you are talking about a vehicle that is worth hundreds of thousands.

I think it starts at year 5. I had my 2013 emission tested (OBD scanned, that's it) earlier this year.
But yeah, we have no safety/mechanical inspections here and there really aren't that many shitty cars driving around. All it takes is a good 115 degree plus week to kill off the shitty cars.

In Texas you don’t have to have a windshield, but you better damn well have windshield wipers.

The only things state inspections and “registration” fees are good for is extorting money out of the people for bullshit reasons. Why the hell should I have to register my truck every damn year. I’m still the owner of it. The vin hasn’t changed. I just play how long can I go in between tax sticker purchases. My record is 3 years. Saved myself nearly 400 bucks by not paying for those tax stickers. I’m 9 months overdue on my trailer. I’m not paying 86 bucks for a tax( as much as my truck) for a trailer I use twice a year.

I mean... its only one day a year. Also, dealerships back-burners anything they arent going to make money on. Set an appointment somewhere else that you can be in and out of quicker.

Wait, what? I just did my car and its $79.00 for 2 year registration.

As far as bullshit laws go dont forget about no hunting on sundays, only recently allowing semi auto for small game/varmints only and wonky medical marijuana laws.

That all being said PA is by far the best state.

I swear when I did my truck it cost the same. Guess I could be wrong though. My POS Ford fusion cost me $1300 and my truck cost $400. Fuckin truck has been 100% but decided to throw an engine code on the way to the dealer. After that the cocksuckers wouldnt pass safety/visual inspection because of my tires. Lol. Im a little salty after paying over 2k on my vehicles.

Im getting my bushwackers tomorrow so my tires should pass. Old fenders comes off easy though.

    Tire tread past the fender.

Should have figured the dealer would screw me over but they have the free safety/visual inspection.

My dealer is the same way. I was told my truck would fail inspection if the fog lights operated independently of the high-beams. Such a crock of shit!

So would they pass a truck with offroad lights? I installed my own fogs so im surprised they passed it honestly.

After driving a lot of forest roads I can understand how it kicks up a lot of rock and debris. Last year when i took it in it passed no problems but I was running different tires.

Edit: lol my GFs dad is a former cop and he even warned me about it.

Rocks catching the treads and getting flung out. I get hit a lot because of stupid wide tires half way sticking out of the fender wells.

I have window tint that is legal in PA, but illegal in New Jersey. Been to Jersey a couple times since getting the window tint and never had a problem...

I've also been told that if your parking brake light is on, your vehicle fails, even if the parking brake is operational! Seriously, who gives a flying f***?
