I am very attached to my 02 Tacoma. I've owned it since July 2002 and it has never let me down. Since 2008 it has been my second vehicle and currently has 138k. To keep miles off my baby, I've owned a 99 Integra, 2008 Accord, 2017 GTI, and now..... [drumroll] I'm driving a 2019 Tacoma as my commuter car. I'm afraid to sell the old girl because if it really came down to choosing between the 2019 and 2002, you can guess which one I'd pick. You can absolutely maintain a second vehicle by driving it a couple times a week. I spend less than 400 bucks a year for insurance and registration, totally worth it to me.

I had a point, what was it? Oh, automobiles do not have to be practical. If everyone wanted the most bang for their driving buck, we'd all be driving a Corolla or Prius. No thank you!!! That reminds me, need to fill up tomorrow.

 

Having my 06 has literally changed my life. I have friends I never would have met if I didn't get on TW... and I got on TW because I bought the truck. I even moved over 1600 miles away from a suggestion from another TW member. I had the best birthday/leaving town party put together by a TW friend that even became one of my best friends. I also lost a relationship because I was with TW people and other Tacoma people too much. Oh well.

 

Mine stopped at 175k miles. I could probably keep driving it and just add 1L of oil every 600km. But I want to save the block for the rebuild so I parked it

 

Kind of a meaningless question...I recently owned a 1930 Ford Pickup...it was 88 years old when I sold it...and it was in running condition...properly maintained, a vehicle should last almost indefinitely.

 

Some people just don’t form an attachment to vehicles. I do. I’ve put blood, sweat and tears into my truck and I love it. It’s my possession. I’ve set it up exactly how I want it to be setup. It’s carried me and my stuff through good times and bad times. Nothing will take its place. It’s a member of the family. To some people a vehicle is just that, a vehicle. To the real gear heads they understand that their vehicle is special, it has meaning, I’ve worked my ass off to pay for it and set it up to my liking. I intend to keep this truck till the day I die. My truck has always been there for me and just shut up and did it’s job. Treat your vehicles good and they will treat you good.

 

Same goes for people (and maybe some animals).

 

Well im so attached im doing a frame up restoration on mine... with a new frame and all. Was my first truck my dad gave me. he put 260k on it from when he bought it new in 01. i put another 43k on it and now its slowly being pieced together

My dad sold his 1981 4x4 with 300k miles in 1991 to make space for his new Toyota pickup. Never replaced anything mechanical in both.

It's good. Other than user error
I bottomed out the back end and blew out he 5100's in the back.
Been putting in to much weight the back and trying to bomb a slope on a yellow light.

Think I'm going g 6112's in front and 5160's in back with bags.
Idk about on board air yet though.

 

I cried when I sold my 2nd Gen. Transmission got old. Just bought a 3. Couldn't be happier. Found a new love.

 

5100's been good to me.
