The scrapyard I took the three heaters and the rusty shelf to was a total mud pie due to recent weather!

To date, the engine in my truck has been great. I've been running full synthetic since 79,500 miles and Mobil 1 since about 84,000 miles (I don't know if this has any affect on the timing chain).

My truck is fine right now, but I've heard from some sources that the timing chain should be replaced at 120K miles or so, and from some that the timing chain should be good for life. However, if it does just break, my engine is toast.

I detail cars for a large family of dealerships, and one of the many perks is the employee discount. The guy who owns the dealership also owns a garage/express lube type of place called Auto Express, where my employee discount is also valid. I've gotten routine maintenance done by this place before and have always been satisfied.

Just for grins, I asked for a quote on replacing the timing chain. With the employee discount, it comes to $3,200!

Has anybody else replaced their timing chain or had it completely fail without warning?

I wouldn't worry till at least 200,000.unless you really hammer your truck everyday.

$3,200, by the time you really need to this you can learn to do it yourself. Parts probably $500 + or -. Really come back when you near 300K. I'm at 155K and no issues with highway mileage mostly. If you work as delivery/paper route this may be shorter.

Uber Eats, but not on a daily basis. My commute to work is 20 miles round trip.

On some vehicles, I've gone over 400K. Never changed a timing chain. Clean oil and sensible driving will keep the TC alive for as long as you care to own the truck.

    Quite simple...

How often, if ever, do I need to change the rear diff fluid in my truck? I've got 93K miles on it now and don't think it's ever been changed.
