I don't even think they have true posi rear ends anymore...

It's all lockers and limited-slip rear ends...

If you punch "positraction" into Wikipedia, the article you get is entitled "Limited-Slip Differential".

Did Toyota pickups EVER even have posi rear ends?

But you want 5 lugs right? That's means 5-lug shafts.

Your easiest option to keep 5 lug is just put a Truetrac in it or something.

Your best option over all is just switch to 6 lug axle.

I'm In the process of putting together a new axle for my truck at the moment. The housing I'm using came with an 8.4" TRD mechanical LSD 3rd member with 3.73's. when I'm done it will be for sale if interested.

At the same time, my truck does fine in deep snow with chains on, plus I just got new Cooper Discoverer AT/3s...

Just get a different truck. Nothing on the 5lugger drive train is compatible or interchangeable. Even if you swap out the entire rear drive train and re-weld spring perches and shock mounts etc. you can’t do tire rotations and need 2 spares

In that case, I'm definitely keeping this one...

There's someone on the Tundra forum who has both a 5-lug 2011 Taco and a newer fully loaded Tundy!

    That's one thing I don't get...

Why does the full-size Toyota pickup have a 5-lug setup?!?!

    @HomerTaco

Sometimes people take a look at my front end and think my truck doesn't have a grille!

    And 4-wheel disc brakes...

Someone on TW told me that it would be possible to convert my truck to 4-wheel disc, but there wouldn't be much point because I wouldn't see much of an improvement in braking performance...

All Frontiers have had 4-wheel disc brakes since 2005! My uncle's base model 2011 Ford Ranger 2WD 4-banger, that doesn't even have tilt steering, has 4-wheel disc brakes!

Even some shitty compact cars have 4-wheel disc brakes! What gives?!?!

And in Pennsylvania, not only will your vehicle fail inspection if the wheels extend past the fenders, but police can pull you over for it even if you have a valid inspection sticker!

And smaller wheels. Axle ratio is one component of many that determine how a truck drives. 6-luggers have bigger wheels and higher ratios stock and guys go up on both from there.

Also, my dad did not want a Yukon with the towing package and upgraded suspension. All Yukons come standard with a 3.08 rear. My dad test drove a Yukon with the 3.08 and said it felt underpowered. He's glad I talked him into getting the 3.42 ratio!

Since I'm having to swap axles I was actually on the fence about doing tundra swap, but benefit vs cost wasn't there. Just going get me a used taco axle and ordered 3rd from ECGS, startin' over

They're absolute nazis! Your vehicle will fail inspection in Pennsylvania if, among other things:
    • The foglights can be turned on concurrently with the high-beams.
    • Your check engine light is on.
    • Your window tint is too dark.
    • Your wheels extend past your fenders.
    • The PRNDL on your gear selector won't light up.
    • The mechanic doing the inspection is a dick and/or decides he simply doesn't like you.
