Took my drivers test in a '69 Ford Fairlane. No power steering, no power brakes, and a 3 on the tree.
I've only owned 3 vehicles since then with a slush box. One in 1978 because I had knee surgery and couldn't push the clutch. The other 2 because my wife thinks she can drive a manual and I'm too lazy to replace a clutch in a vehicle that she drives.

Yeah the Chevy truck I'd drive sometimes at work was all manual everything back then. I was young and didn't care then though. I remember the first time I got in it and had never driven a column shift before. Had to walk back inside to ask someone what the shift pattern was. lol

Back then I drove a 83 Toyota pickup that didn't have power anything and didn't even have a/c. It ended up down here with the original owner who lived in Wyoming when he bought it and they didn't need a/c up there. lol

Yep. And it wasn't easy finding a standard Tacoma in Southern Cal. I definitely prefer it over auto.

And my motorcycles, I guess those are kick-shift.

First thing I drove that was manual was a 57 Bel Air that was my friend's dad's, but other than the goofy 3 on the tree it was easy and the clutch was super forgiving. The first stick I drove was an 86 300zx turbo. That was awesome and also forgiving for what it was. Then I got my 5 speed taco. My auto land Cruiser... And now my 87 300zx, cause the other one made me want one, and the easy ability to get to 550hp :D

I've been driving stick since I was 15 or 16, and haven't touched an auto for my personal vehicle since.

    I started out with a '79 CJ7 304 with the 3 speed.
    '83 Toyota pickup 5 speed
    97 Mustang 5 speed
    2000 taco 5 speed
Went auto with the 2011 taco

I don't know wtf I was thinking buying a Mustang. Never did find the transfer case shift lever in that thing and that was all I knew since the beginning.

It's okay it happens to everyone at some point... They get confused, disoriented, buy a mustang, drive into a crowd, show off to their betters, get slapped down, buy literally anything else.

It was in the high 70s and low 80s today, with relatively high humidity, and I'd say the A/C in my truck performed flawlessly!

I've owned 17 trucks or SUV's going back to the 1970's. I'm about 50/50 on MT vs AT. But in my experience just because someone owns a manual and has for years doesn't mean they know how to drive it. A significant number aren't doing it right.

This is true, after you can move around with one you have to then learn to be efficient and keep from wearing them out too. O think pulling trailers helped me learn to master that aspect of it

I had my ac on for a bit in the FRS today. Got pretty hot sitting in the sun.

Have you ever had to service the A/C in your '07? Obviously, the system had to be dismantled and then recharged when your frame was replaced, but I won't count that...

It seems like Tacoma A/C is weaker than the A/C in other vehicles. Mine is ICE COLD, but it doesn't seem to blow as hard as the A/C in some of the new vehicles I detail at work. For example, the A/C in a brand new GMC Terrain SLE I detailed the other day was ten times more powerful than the A/C in my Tacoma.

I kind of taught myself to drive a manual by learning to ride a sport bike first.

My manuals were a 1995 Mustang Cobra, 2009 Ford Focus, and my 1988 LX 5.0

    - never drove into a crowd in either Mustang

I'm happy with mine too, so happy that I'd rather keep my truck indefinitely than buy a new vehicle and have payments...
