You just had to step in with rational thinking, lol

    ^That's what I thought ~$700. We'll see.

I just spent a bunch of money, so OVtune might have to wait a bit anyways....

    My grandfather was Amish.
Hopped on a train to Seattle for boot camp in 1941.
He lied about his age so he could fight, he was 17.
Got home from the war and married a Mennonite.
    No more Amish for him.
    He's my hero.

Hmmm really? I'm looking for one...but I'm looking for basically a junk one. All I want is the motor, wiring harness and computer... and some other small stuff if I need it. I've been looking for something with a bad frame. I figured i could find a first gen taco with a junk frame....nope. i found 1 it was a 4cly. 4runners are a little easier to find though. Still a bitch though.

It's 770 if you buy it with the cable, which you need to do anything anyhow.. The cable is an ODBII to USB converter, which plugs into a laptop. On the computer once you get everything registered it's as simple as reading which ECU you have, then clicking the 'flash it' button and waiting a few minutes. Start your truck and let it idle for a few minutes then.. :burnrubber:

My cruise in to work is about 23 miles of everything except city, mostly uphill. Performance was pretty greatly improved, especially going up hills. It used to be the truck would immediately drop to 4th to climb anything so I'd be running 3.5k rpm like half my drive to work. Now I can hold 80 on the same roads in probably 5th at 2-2.5krpm with the occasional torque converter unlock.

One of my biggest gripes about this transmission is the point between torque converter unlock and downshift. On stock, it was essentially nothing. You almost never see the converter unlock before downshift happens. Now you've got that standard 500rpm jump for a pretty significant amount of throttle before anything downshifts.

I also spent a lot less time fiddlefucking with the throttle on my way to work than I have been. Again, it's pretty hilly so on the flats you hold speed fairly well, then getting into a hill it would downshift and you'd accelerate past what you were trying to maintain, then have to let off the gas and it upshifts and you lose too much speed.. you get the point. That pretty much went away, my foot rode in the same position most of the time on that particular road.

I'm probably going to reflash to his 91 octane tune but I had 3/4 of a tank of 87 in and didn't want to wait to try things out. His 91 tune is showing +~25hp
