That poor little animal. :facepalm:Peta wants them to let him go and use a animatronic groundhog...that GD big rat lives better than me. Haha I live about 40 min from punxy never went for groundhog day though. I hear it's a cluster up there when that goes on.

The part that makes me shake my head.An event like this probably supports that towns budget for the whole year.It is a fing ground hog. who cares if pulls it out of his hole for five minutes.

I never rally gave it much thought. But now that PETA is against it, I fully support it. That hog lives better than any in the wild.

You're right Jer, having some relatives in that neck of the woods, I've heard the real history. Without the event, that area is basically dead this time of year. Tha actual event these days is dry as they don't want to spend money on security like Sturgis does. Which means that the peripheral parties are all the more intense. You would be really surprised what is used to predict and it isn't the groundhog. For the rest of you reading this, it is February 2nd, the exact middle of winter, coincidence? Absolutely.

Happy February 2nd all...very new forum member but have been in PA since 2001. Brought my 1994 SR5 with me and the salty roads finally did the body in. Frame was fine per my regular mechanic but the body was a mess. Replaced the 1995 about a month ago with a 2020 TRD Sport with manual transmission. The only "build" item I have so far is the Garmin Overlander GPS. Nice unit, crystal clear and easy to read and use but pricy...bought it through REI so I'll at least get a $70 dividend from them next March.

Here is the 1994 just prior to trade...414,000 miles. The first engine died at 311,000 but it still had the original 5-speed manual transmission. Top photo is what replaced the 1994.IMG-7262.jpg IMG-7029.jpg

I had a little insight to this years ago, with the Bloomsburg nationals truck show. When we first started going it was "anything goes" Burnout in the streets,Totally illegal lifted trucks driving down the streets.I got talking to a resident and inquired how this happens. At that time the truck show would generate about 10x the revenue that the horse show did.TRuck show 3 days, horse show 10 days. The towns people loved it cause it kept their taxes low.
