Hah, funny you mention that. I wasn't even driving my GTI, I was in the 4 banger Camry. Although we did just put new tires on it so I had to, uh, break them in... If I was in the GTI I'd probably do something stupid in that circumstance... We could see the Turnpike from a couple sections on 30 between Breezewood and McConnellsburg and it was indeed mindblowing how dead it was.

 

With the arrival of my last patch, I have reached the point of no more mods till this social distancing crap is over. I've got UCA's to do, and the liner for the cap to do, all which require assistance from some of you fine TW peeps. Also considering just taking the cap to Macco to get painted at this point, since knowing me, it will likely get beat up. The one down the street from my job offers discounts to FF/EMT's so figure might as well get that done this year too.

I'm also about to order the Cab roof rack finally... which also sorta requires assistance. Hopefully by June when I have a week off from school depending on my work schedule remaining in the Covid phase or returning to normal I can get at least one of them done.

 

Finally finished with the springs hopefully it’ll drive straight when I take it for a drive

 

Sounds like a Taco Sunday is in order. I have a set of JBAs sitting the back of my truck for over 6 months. Need to get my exhaust re-route done so I can mount up my Mobtown skids. Then there's the Redline Tuning hood struts to put on....the list goes on!

Sounds like a very good plan. Unfortunately my paint shop is severely backlogged and would likely not be able to get you in anytime soon. Also it just has to match it doesn’t have to be perfect.
As for the rest of what you need to get done I am totally in whenever this quarantine bullshit is over.

 

@HomerTaco is hoodstrut king! Installed my Redline struts in about 20 mins.

 

I’ve had some practice with that. Yours was like the 6th. set I’ve installed.

 

I was supposed to do the re-route a while ago, still need to do that. The hood struts were pretty easy to do, I also put one on the tailgate.

No worries, I just figured it is the one thing that is still driving me nuts, and one of our Per Diem's just got his whole truck repainted by them. Didn't look terrible so, might as well. I just gotta get the damn brackets mounted yet, as long as they get confirmed to work with the rack I want to use.

I have an exceptional collection of beer that I’m wanting to share as well.

 

Bought the 18ft. LAMAR car hauler, brought it home and had to test it out so I loaded my wife's 2019 Rav4 Adventure AWD, strapped it down and drive around. Only time I felt it back there was when I was backing up a side street around a corner to turn around. Could've moved it forward about 8-10" to even out the weight on the trailer. Didnt think the Rav4 would be that well balanced in weight. It's 3,615 empty so say 3,700lbs with fuel, carseats, etc... trailer is 2,150lbs so I was well under the max weight limits of both truck and trailer. Going to weld on D-rings (for some reason this batch of trailers they fucked up and didn't add D-rings) I asked the salesperson about them and said I need something off the price or I'm walking. He said they don't negotiate price so I told them if you throw in a matching spare tire and wheel I'll forget about the rings. LOL free spare.

how long can beer sit to still be good? I have some Heady Topper (that I probably wont drink and want to trade) that has been sitting in my basement, un-chilled, for about a year..

 

If these springs are taller than your old ones you're going to need an alignment. It'll put more weight on the front changing the suspension geometry and probably throwing your caster out at the very least.

I have to head into my office at the college today - need to record a farewell video to our students since I won't be handing them their diplomas and it's my last semester before I retire. And I am saying goodbye to he faculty during their last Zoom Faculty Meeting this afternoon, too. Seems surreal. Can't do it from home - we're at 3.2 miles on a DSL line. I can't walk to the end of the road faster than data travels on the line.
