Worked overnight shift most of my working life. One bar near my work opened at 7:00 am and was never empty at 7:05. There was another close by that had "exotic dancers" on Fridays starting at 8:00 am. Some of those dancers looked more than a little rough at that hour of morning.

Not as extensive as Homer, but I've had mine since 2012, also going to keep it as long as possible, and also easier to list what's stock then whats not. I've gone through a couple of rounds of poor decisions, then hand-me-down parts, now building it how I want it is going significantly smoother.

We have a small little dive bar in town that used to open that early back in the day. All the 3rd shift workers at JLG would go there for something to eat and grab a beer. Its changed hands over the year and they're barely open anymore. About the only bar you can still smoke inside.

I don't drink during work weeks, messes up my sleeping pattern not to mention aggravates my bladder issues. I typically mow grass the first morning on my days off and have one after, but that's it.

I swap sleeping schedules around so much I don't even know what normal is anymore. I know it's not healthy, but it is what it is. There's no chance of me getting on daylight at my current place anytime in the next 7 years so unfortunately I'm going on the hunt. Can't do nights anymore...

I've ended up with a day shift office position about 7-1/2 years ago after the last few years of night work leading to increasing amounts of time on lay off. Less physical work now for sure and far more stable but I do miss night shift. Got real used to no or little traffic, and minimal supervision.

Did my front brakes yesterday. Was hoping for a quick job of just pads (and have the shop 1/4 mi. down the street resurface the rotors while I did some other things). When I got the truck 4 years ago I did all the brakes. At that time I thought I was being smart and frugal to do the home job of buying the kit to rebuild the calipers (pistons, seals, boots, etc.) because I had uneven wear and didn't want to bother to drop the money on Toyota OE parts. Well, that job didn't really fix things. My pads still wore pretty unevenly despite all that. Plus they were literally falling apart from rust by now. Who knows how old those calipers were, maybe original 2003? I just bagged it and pulled 'em off and got cheapo Autozone replacements for $61 ea. So much easier than buggering with trying to take out rusty pistons and crap. Oh, and I didn't get the rotors resurfaced last time either. So... WOW!!! my brakes actually work now! Its amazing what you don't realize you're missing out on when things so slowly go to pot over the years (that waxes philosophical actually).

    Afternoon PA!

Got the porch painted this morning. Even outside that stuff was damn toxic, I swear I could taste sounds with the fume buzz that was going on. Even my grandmother could smell it next door! Also found out you shouldn't stir a brand new can of Urethane. My work bench is now a new shade of gray; it foamed over that much. That was an interesting experience!

Also found a roofing staple in the rear tire of my brand new mower. Has 1 hour on it and now has 2 plugs, my luck sucks! Did learn how to plug a tire though...

265/75R16 Wildpeak AT3W, Softopper, Kicker speakers, shift knob, Ventvisors, Tint, Husky Weatherbeaters, Hondo Garage radio knobs. The to do list: Bilstein 6112/5160, 3 leaf add-a-leafs, lights, alu skid, PRP seat covers...
Softopper for the win. Best of both worlds in 30 seconds flat without 3 other people's assistance.

I came from a Tundra and basically everything could fit under a tonneau but my miter saw and some of my other tools couldn't fit under one on the Taco but I need the bed open for my ATV, kayaks, etc. so Softopper is perfect.

Not that you're in the cabin with a floppy top, but I always wonder if those soft toppers are still audibly floppy in the back. I've been in enough Jeep Wranglers to hate that floppy feel/noise. If the flopping is not an issue, my next topper might be soft.

Just a tarp flapping can drive me crazy.

One day there was a strange new sound it sounded like a whole Hoard of Demons was back there.

I stopped checked all the wheels for heat nothing I was about to return back home when I thought what is different

It comes with velcro for the tailgate but I put magnets on the valcro and clear 3M on the top of the tailgate. 65+ with the windows down and I can't tell the difference if it is on or off and it sees the Turnpike daily at 75+. I added OEM crossbars to the 4runner and they make more wind noise than my Softopper, not much at all but still it was more noticeable than the topper. I think the difference is that the air isn't getting in it looking for an escape path like a jeep with the windows down.

Almost weekly somebody asks about it at Home Depot, Lowes, 84 Lumber, etc. Somebody sees me pop the snaps and fold it forward to load concrete or lumber and then bring it back up when its all strapped down. I've never had one object that more people asks about in my life. Best purchase I've made for my truck yet. Makes the bed space unbelievably versatile, and I like that the visibility to whats in the bed is through the back window.

I get questioned weekly also. I was picking up trailer parts the other day and the guy asked many questions about it.
