I'm ready to put my Mobtown IFS skid on my truck and I went to remove the stock "grass guard" which is in two sections. When removing the piece that is toward the rear of the truck I saw that the 12mm self-tapping machine screw on the rear passenger side must have gotten scraped up a bit when I was up at AOAA in the fall and head of the bolt is slightly deformed. Not sure why Toyota thinks it's a good idea to have exposed bolt heads on a skid :annoyed:

Luckily I was able to get a ratchet on it and the head turns but the bolt isn't backing out - it's just spinning. I'm assuming the treads in the hole must be the issue.

I'm not much of a mechanic so any advice/tactics to get that out would be greatly appreciated.

Try taking all the other bolts out and try spinning bolt with impact gun.

I don't think it was needed for the new skid. It had to get removed though for the new skid to sit in place.

Once we got the old skid off mine, I laid the old on top of the new and saw that the bolt holes were different. I don't 100% remember which bolt was the one spinning on mine, but I do remember that the new skid had different mounting points that were to be used.
