People are weird

I don't start threads often but this was such an odd situation I figured I would share it.
I was working the other day and it was a Saturday so only me and my buddy were in. Mind you we are parked in a private compound thats fenced and has a gate open at one end thats locked when we leave.

So me and buddy are leaving work and I see this note under my windshield wiper. I blocked the numbers since it's irrelevant, just struck me as very weird. You mean to tell me your going to come into a private compound write a weird ass note asking to buy my truck?

I'm a very private person I don't like people touching my stuff and I was a bit annoyed by the whole thing. If I wanted to sell it, it would be for sale. Love my truck and I won't sell it. People are weird.

Uncommon - yes.
I wouldn't consider it to be especially weird.
If I were looking for a specific used vehicle, I might just do the same.
As far as touching your stuff, that's a bit childish. All he/she did was slip a note under your wiper.
Assuming this is a business location, is the business open on a Saturday? Was the gate open?
If the business was not open, I would have swung the gate closed (but not locked).

 

Only time I've left a note on somebody's truck was to ask if they still had the Wildernest they'd swapped out for a Drifter. No response. Big sad.

 

That's not that weird. Somebody with a side hustle? Count your blessing, It's civil.

 

Define "private compound."

How big is it, in acres? Who owns it? Are there staff or security people who work inside it legitimately? Maybe one of them put it on there.

Is it some sort of hunting preserve where other private parties might be there at the same time, that you weren't aware of?

Hard to assess without more complete context.

Trespassing to go leave the note is unacceptable

Mechanics shop owned by a big company ran by a small staff. Only people there on Saturday are me and my buddy since we work a weird shift. But it's in the middle of a big city so someone driving by probably saw it and took a shot. Like I said I get it from both sides lol just thought it was an interesting situation to share.

 

Someone "passing through Phoenix" (between jobs and homes, but was not broke and was intentionally taking time to relax and just hike) with a 2003 Tacoma found a note on his truck offering $4000, parked in a public parking lot. Apparently lived for too many years in a place where a "still running" 2003 has the value of a McGreasy Happy Meal. Once I explained the value of a Tacoma in AZ, he was less confused.

 

That's what the cops told me after the 3rd time some scumbags tried to steal my truck

Take over the lease + what?
Or give an amount for a lot if your bold enough to do what they did!

Never know someone hit the lottery and wants it bad!

Not any different then getting random text messages from realtors asking if u want to sell your home when your home is not even on the market.

 

Not weird at all, dude just wanted to make an offer to buy the truck and left a note since you weren’t around to talk to.

 

My first thought was to call and tell him 85k cash no tax

 

I've left a note on two CRV's that match the exact 3 year window with correct trim and color I want. Never did hear back from either, but if you dont ask you dont get so I asked.
