When I was a USAF Security Policeman in the early 90s, I responded to the Lackland AFB golf course on a complaint of personal property damage. Complainant claimed subject opened his passenger door into his vehicle and caused a severe scrape/dent. Sure enough the damage was severe and the paint transfer matched perfectly. When I collected the subject's info I about crapped: I knew this guy was old, but fuck! The subject's driver's license indicated he was born in 1888 making him around 104 at the time! And he was still driving a 1964 Lincoln and playing golf! The doors on this thing were massive and heavy. It was liking taking a sledgehammer to the other guy's vehicle! I'll never forget that.

EDIT: I should add that the guy had retired from active-duty before WWII kicked off, and then went back on active duty and served until after the Korean War. God bless that old dead bastard!

The reason I got side steps is to help with the door dings. I asked the owner of the shop how far they would stick out. I was told 3 inches from the door.

    YES!! :yay:

Pfft. Three inches from the lower inward curving part of the door....

black tube steps, side marker turn signals, 15% tint and window strip, EGR vent shades, fighter pilot/cockpit mod, console and glove box auto on LED, anytime fog light mod, 3000k HID fogs, bed mat wing nut mod, locking bed storage bin mod, smoked tail lights, plasti-dipped rims, blacked out emblems, black tail pipe, tail gate hose clamp, rear seat utility/dog shelf with rear center console access door.
Spring loaded center punches come in real handy for the door ding jackasses. Right in the middle of the windshield or small side windows. Of course my state replaces any window for no deductible if you have the coverage but the inconvenience is what I like.

Couple weeks ago a kid did that to mine and I asked him about it. He smarted off to me so I grabbed him, put his head in the door and slammed it as hard as I could, 3 times. I think he died.
