I may be the odd man out here but I got the OTT about 3 months ago and just don't see a lot of benefit to it. I had about 23k on my 2021 when I did it. I thought my truck shifted ok prior but after all of the talk I thought it would be a huge upgrade.

I got tuned at around 8000kms and now have 199xxxKms. No issues to report with either KDMax or YotaWerx.

I'm biased as i'm a tuner so I'll condense my review...it's great and will provide you with a truck that drives like it should of off the lot

Manual or automatic transmission? Unless your having mechanical issues. Why wait 3 months, you contacted your tuner? Did you not test drive your Tacoma when your tuner first installed the tune? The tuner suppose to have waited if you wanted to upgrade, or drop sensitivety of throttle response.

my SR5 doing ok. Little gear searching but what I’m afraid of having my 10y/ 100k platinum warranty voided by doing so.
My mpg is good I think 22 city 24 highway on stock 245/75/16

It's an auto. I had to drive a ways to get the tune. Will probably try to meet him again sooner or later. I went with mild/medium. Shifts fine just expected to be super impressed based on what I had read.

My Tacoma is manual transmission, apparently different OTT tune with automatics. I also had to drive far ways for my tune, and my case it's on Spicy. I luv my Tacoma.:D

I did about 10k miles on my 2022 with the OTT "medium" tune. It made a huge difference to the drivability of my truck. I live in a very hilly area and the constant shifting of the stock tune made me crazy. The one complaint I had was that the throttle was too sensitive for stop-and-go traffic. I got it updated to the "mild" setting and I love it even more now. It's not perfect, but nothing ever will be on these trucks; the drivetrain is just too old and limited. But I highly recommend the OTT.
(And if you're in New England, look up Wicked Matt Transcendent Tuning. Dude knows his stuff.)

I put 45k on my 21 OR running KDmax tunes. Was flashing my own tunes and Kreg did several custom tunes for me.

Traded the Tacoma in on an F150 in June. It sure is nice driving a vehicle with allot of torque.

The KDmax tune is the only reason I kept the Tacoma as long as I did.

Just got back from two weeks on big island with a rental Jeep, first ones I've driven since I had a TJ - I was astonished at how powerful those pigs were! 'Only' took three different rigs to get me through 11 days, hah..must be some other reason everyone and their aunty drives Toyota out there..but that has to be a really tough place to be a rental vehicle, I will admit.

Did the OTT tune at 10,000 miles.. I’m at 15,000 now and still enjoying the heck out of it. Zero issues with dealer with regular maintenance/oil changes and I haven’t had any warranty work done so no clue there but not anticipating any problems at all. MPG went up by 1 or 2 but I also replaced my heavy Ridge Grapplers with lighter Wrangler Kevlar Adventures around the same time so hard to say if the tune was responsible for the increase.
Highly recommend doing it. FWIW my truck is a 23 TRD Sport with the 6MT, totally changes the truck and with the tune it drives the way it should have from the factory.

Only dealer installed lift kit and running boards
My 2017 had shift point and torque converter issues, so it had been flashed by the dealer with updated firmware a few months after I bought it.
Electrical short fried inputs to my ECM at about 115 miles. I bought a salvage ECM that was an exact replacement and proper config for my truck, but it was the original version of the firmware.

When I priced getting it flashed by the dealer, it was more that a tune would cost, so I went that route to get the new firmware.

DAMN, I should have put a tune on it Day One!!!!

Overall MPG is up for me by 0.9 MPG. Shift points are better. The throttle response is a 100% improvement.

You check engine oil? Maybe lugging the engine.
What setting you have on your OTT tune, with your 6MT Tacoma? Spicey, Super Spicey? Or lower?

As long you don’t say anything to dealer about tune. Don’t worry about warranty, they will never know. But if you still all nerjous, you have to wait 10 years, or 100k miles, which ever comes first, before getting tune.:p

I had KDMax 9.0 and 10.0 for 10k miles and about a year and went back to stock about a month ago and plan to keep it stock. I did the self install so I could change the throttle settings all I want. The tune did drastically improve gear hunting but I've learned to simply apply a little more gas off the line and the truck shifts like I want it to(too little gas it goes into the next gear prematurely). The stock tune is smoother and I don't have to worry about warranty issues. I'm also getting the best gas mileage to date on the stock tune(I log it at almost every fill up). My truck is a '23 TRD OR with 1.5" lift via 5100's and 265/70r17.

Its my understanding that my '23 has the latest OEM trans tune revision which isn't as bad as older models. I can see why some folks love the tune. My biggest hang up the warranty concerns. My truck has a lifetime powertrain warranty as a free addon from my dealer..... I don't want to mess with that.

Had the KDMax 6 for a while, now have the KDMax 10 on my 2021 OR. I love it now. I would have definitely sold this truck if I had to live with the stock setup. Shamefully bad.

I only have 5k miles on my OTT tune but love it. Not sure if it's standard but I filled out a pretty lengthy questionnaire as to my driving habits and as to what I wanted. No gear hunting and peppy. Funny I thought the throttle was sluggish before the tune and now it's responsive which is why I say the truck feels peppy. . . . anyway I like it is all I'm saying.

I got the OTT tune about 2 months ago (LOVE IT!). And yes, I’ve towed my 1875 Lund numerous times since getting the tune. Everything is better, including slightly better MPG
