yes the center of the spring flexes too much and it dosent support the weight of the truck properly. if it works for you ,ok . but you are just risking premature spring wear. why did you take 3 leafs out ?

i took out that 3rd one down thats the 11th leaf. I just did it because a member on here took those two bottom ones out to help soften the ride.

oh okay, so you only took the 3rd leaf down out and not 3 leafs per side?

why are you trying to soften it ? did you try proper shock valving first?

i took the 3rd one from the top. and the 2 smallest bottom ones. yes the compression is at 12 and the rebound is at 10. feels great through the whoops and big stuff. But the little stuff is a little rough. It softened it some and lowered it by 1.5 inches.

I see that a lot of people do seem to like his stuff. I even know of someone who has Giant Motorsports' SUA, but would've gone with Defined it were available.

Mike: if I were to pay you tomorrow, when could you get me the parts? People are telling me that they don't get their kits as soon as they pay, is that right?

correct you have to place an order and wait in line. i usually dont keep things in stock, and when i do they are gone pretty quick. hardest thing to keep in stock is the springs, i order them 5 sets at a time and it takes sometimes 4-6 weeks from time of order to delivery. thats what the wait time is mostly for . by the time i get my shipment in usually all the springs are sold. if i want to order more than 5 sets at a time i have to switch manufacturers and from a quality standpoint i dont want to take that risk.

at the moment i have one set of springs in stock but out of stock on shackles and such. with my current workload i can have you a kit early next week if you can deal with an uncoated shackle. 2 weeks if you want them powdercoated. i would strike while the iron is hot if you really want the kit soon ...

Ok, thanks for the info. I'm still trying to gather as much info as I can between yours and Tim's leaf packs.

sounds good. dont forget to factor in the extra install time/costs that it takes to install the dmz kit as well as the driveshaft modifications needed. if you do go with his kit make sure and gusset the shackle buckets and switch the shackle bushing to delrin.

    Thanks for the advice.

Does your kit not require driveshaft mods? Why do his shackle buckets need gusseting, btw? This is the first I've heard of this.

some people have to do the driveshaft mod. mine is fine but after i hit some big stuff the cb starts making some really loud noises, but they go away shortly. i am going to get the slip yoke and a new cb.

    Ive had the set up for a while now and its been awesome. The increase in bump travel is the greatest gain in noticeable performance. I ran it for a time with stock length fox 2.0's and and LR jounce and then sold the parts off for;

14 inch King 2.0's with the 7/8 shafts and shorty bumps. kept the shocks and bumps outside the frame rail with a hoop. no deflection in the hoop or any other issues. I've been totally pleased with this set up and now im wishing the front would perform as well as the rear. strapped at 13 1/2 inches.

Ah I wish I had these skills. Thats all the work of my friend Matt. He owns San Diego Auto Fab... builds drag cars and customs primarily... but pretty much anything else you can bring him.

after speaking to deaver and another leafspring guru concerning the removal of the 2 bottom leafs, im told its not a good idea . mainly because the bottom 2 leafs support all of the springs further up the pack and the springs will "w" . making it a possibility that you will ruin the springs if it is too severe.
so im not recommending anyone remove any of the bottom leafs. for those with the 11leaf XLpack take the 3rd spring down from the main out to make it my standard pack. if at that point you really feel the springs are too stiff with weight in the bed and you have completely cancelled out the shocks . contact me and we will work out the problem .

This is something that I am interested in. Did you go with 2.0s for clearance from the frame or just personal preference? Who did the work? I need to get an estimate. You havent had any issues with the current set-up right?

valving and weight placement! can also depend on the driver...

12/10 is a good place to start with smoothbodys and 10/10 with bypass. the more weight behind the rear axle the better

bumpstop length and placement can influence this as well as bypass shock length and placement
