I started making the custom snorkel. I will post pictures once I am done with the mold.

I decided to make the topper part of the whole tube instead of paying $60+ for a local one or waiting a month for a $20 china one.

What was the cost on this set up? Did you have to use extended brake lines? And the front susp. reservoir, does it damage from flying debris?

I just looked at the invoice. It was $2,900.

I did have to get extended rear brake lines. Fronts are recommended but not required.

Debris does collect on the reservoir but have had no issues with damage.

Sick rig, nice set up. Up there in price for me. But maybe in a couple yrs. Lookin at the new 6112 set up 5100 in the back. When mine are dust. Is the ride stiff in the dirt? Or is it butter? How long did you have your stock susp. On for?

Thanks guys. I agree it is a little pricey. I saved up for a while and my wife agreed to let me buy the rest of the kit for my birthday. I bought my truck with 86k miles on it two years ago and I think I replaced the suspension around 96k.

It is a little stiff only because I built my own rear leaf spring from 3/4 ton chevy springs. Eventually I will be building a new set of loose springs with air bags. That way it can be loose for off road and fill the airbags for when I need to load the bed.

There are a couple models of bags that Firestone makes that have 14" of travel and internal bump stops. That way it doesn't hinder flex when they aren't filled.

Lol I know we were talking about this before. It wasn't worth it to me to wait and pay $300+ even for a used piece of "custom plastic".

I feel confident in my fiber glassing abilities that I can pull this off. So far I am in $15 for the foam, $8 for the spray glue, $22 for the silicone couplers, and $20 for the fiberglass materials.

I am not going to give too much away until I am done though.

Just wondering what about the small fiberglass particles get through your filter?

    Looks good btw.

That pink mold you see is made of insulation foam. Once I get it perfectly molded how I want it I will be fiber glassing around that. When the fiberglass is satisfactory I will pour acetone into the tube which will melt the foam leaving me with a fiberglass tube coated in resin.

I'd say 1-3 hours at a time, maybe 12. I am mostly just working on it after school before my wife gets home from work.

Thanks guys. I am still working on it slowly. I was planning on letting another member use the mold to duplicate and make his own but it looks like I will just be helping him out later.

I am almost done with the engine bay tube (I am actually farther then what is pictured):
