I’ve got the Intake and I’d like to add the exhaust and tune. Did everyone do the tune through the forums? Is a URD exhaust better than TRD?

The trd exhaust sounds great but if it added any power Toyota would have jumped at the chance to change the hp ratings on the Pro to make them more desirable. Just my opinion but I do love the look and sound of mine.

Just do this instead and put a TRD emblem on yor intake. It will save you $380. This will give you a little more Hp and better MPG with out spending all that money.

funny enough, the TRD exhaust is quieter inside the truck than stock.

i had both. the TRD exhaust sounds great and that's what it's about. it's performance is awful like any ol regular restrictive exhaust. i kept the intake and did a custom exhaust and a tune. if you want performance improvement on this motor cheaply that's the way to go. and my exhaust is still pretty expensive.

I'd have to disagree with that. The TRD exhaust is definitely less raspy than stock but it has a much deeper, more noticeable tone in the cab.

Is it really? Well you just saved me $700. I like the stock exhaust sound, I was surprised it had any sound at all, and wanted a little more. I was considered daring the pro exhaust for that reason alone.

my friend has a pro, he agrees with me that my stock exhaust is loud compared to his. His sounds nicer, and deeper.

Farther in law has a sport, I have a pro. Mine is much louder on start up and sounds 10x better all around. It’s a deeper, raspy sound as mentioned above. If you’re looking for pure sound I would for sure say go trd or borla route. For a v6 it sounds really good.

Generally most mods are aesthetic on the Tacoma unless there is a SC kit ever come out.

I have the TRD intake kit and Borla exhaust. I love them but most people preferred to spend their money on other mods. I got a good deal on both so I figured why not.

typically true but you can definitely dig up some performance by re-working this exhaust. but a TRD kit will do nothing for that. aaaand i think I'm repeating myself, sorry!

@dbyker I plan on going the same route. From looking at the Stock exhaust vs the TRD version for 2nd Gens one thing I noticed is that if you look at the 2nd Gen is our Stock exhaust is the 2nd Gen TRD Exhaust minus the tip. The 3rd Gen Exhaust has a different muffler from the people here and clips it sounds deeper in video. The Intake is designed better than the stock one just a little less restrictive as people have said you can buy a few parts off the intake and basically make your own for 1/4 of the cost. I'll likely just do the intake and exhaust at once then go with the OV Tune and call it a day.

Then there is more exterior, lighting, wheels and tires …...lol

The TRD vs stock exhaust. TRD is most definitely lower pitched and with much more "rumble" and a bit of drone (not objectionable to most) at cruise speeds. Improved MPG and power? If there is any gain, it's not measurable using traditional tracking methods as there are too many variables that come into play such as winter gas, short trips during cold months, octane and quality of the fuel, alcohol content of fuel tire pressure and on and on. You'd need to do a comprehensive dyno test to really determine this and it's all just not worth it. Just enjoy the sound.
