Hey guys, new member here. I know lifts have probably been beaten to death all over this site but need some advice as I'm new to the Tacoma world. I have had several lifts over the years and don't want a standard mall crawler lift kit, I want something built for wheel travel and offroad. Seems like theres tons of options for my truck (2017 limited DC 4x4) and I just want some advice on what to stay away from and what's working great. I'm considering kings/total chaos or possibly icon but only have a budget of around 6K to make this happen. Any preferred vendors or experience that could help me out? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Judging from some of the kits I've been looking at, it's going to be close. Probably around 4 for the kit and 2 for install/alignment. Still have to get wheels/tires as well. I am building this truck to pre-run desert racing tracks here in West TX. I currently have a race truck being built at a fabricator in Dallas and need something that can handle harsh terrain but at much slower speeds than the race. It also has to handle well on pavement as it will be my daily driver so trying to get the best setup I can within that budget.

I like the look of that, not wanting to go very high with mine either. Probably just high enough to run 33's. Trying to decide between king, fox and icon and I'm sure that's a common struggle. Leaning towards kings but damn they're proud of their stuff!

You can run 255/85/16 factory. A lift wont help you clear 285/75 really, thats a cmc and a hammer and some work on the fender liners.

I have a 3" toytech lift and I run 285 65 18 with no rubbing and no trimming. I liked how it turned out.

I appreciate the help guys, I figured some trimming would be required and I'm all for it if thats what it takes. I bought this truck for its offroad capabilities and damnit thats what its going to get used for. I bought the 100K comprehensive warranty for the powertrain and plan on making sure I get my moneys worth hahaha. Havent looked at the toytech but I'll damn sure check it out, thanks for the info. Heres the stock pic, I'll document the build over the next few months.

Only 6k lol. You can buy the majority of any high end suspensio. Should be enough for wheels and tires too

Good luck with the search it can be a damn head ache. Took me 6months to decide.

I’m biased so going to tell you Kings all day. Prefer the progressive valving vs digressive on Icons. Plus, King’s reputation is pretty strong when it comes to offroad shocks and more common with racing performance. @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc is a good place to go to for your kit.

Really appreciate all the help fellas, this looks like a great forum. I think I can figure this lift out, I just need to get it done so I'll stop looking all the damn time. One more quick question, anyone developing a supercharger for these trucks?

Bro, if you want to put a giant lift and a supercharger and go off roading all the time, do yourself a favor and try to get your money back on the warranty. Pretty much everything you want to do with your truck either flat out voids the warranty or they will find a way to wiggle out of it.

Figured that was coming. First, its not a "giant" lift, 4" or less, second, I have a great relationship with my local dealership, my last Toyota was a tundra with a bds 6" lift, 37's and it was programmed. I shattered the 4x4 system in it while offroad and they covered it no questions asked. I also have racing sponsorships that include an ASE mechanic for any issues I have. I just have to pay for parts, labor is covered. Otherwise, I wouldnt have gone that route. Hell, I might end up paying for it out of pocket regardless and if thats the case so be it. I appreciate the advice though, I understand where your coming from.
