What happens if you try to hold 80 mph up those hills vs. letting the truck lose speed while holding gear?

13 seconds? Years ago that was muscle car territory. Takes a lot more hp., or mods to gain that much.

It will hold 80 up them no problem if I want it to. This video was showing what happens if no extra throttle in input and how that relates to it not needing to go back a gear to climb them.
I usually drive 80-85 up them and at most on its worst day it might need 5th but these are some decent sized hills.

Have any plans to head west and test in mountains?

How does this software work for tuning other vehicles besides your own?

What about drivability in 6th gear and with light throttle under 1400 rpms?

My truck has the bumpiest/misfire syndrome during these situations. Which is about 70% of my driving. Torque converter lock/unlocking way I understand.

Have you been able to weed this out and still balance the other performance gains.

I went a 14.60 in bad weather with the speed limiter and some shutand I still have a set of 4.30 gears for it.
No plans to go out west but I have been through Birmingham Alabama and North Georgia which has some decent sized hills and it works well.

This particular software does a lot of Toyota applications and I run HPtuners as well for my Gm and Ford stuff.

Ok so this post will also be applicable to the post above.
Last Christmas I pulled a 14*7 enclosed trailer with two 4 wheelers in it and one in the bed with the truck loaded down as well.
I watched my data all through the hills and was paying attention to how it pulled.
I came to notice that the ignition timing in the low rpm high load areas was going down to single digits(5-7). At this point this area of the timing boards was stock. This prompted me to try and raise these areas and see if it would help the towing and gas mileage.
It took me several weeks to get these correct as I completely rebuilt the timing boards but I was rewarded with a truly smooth running truck.
I had not even thought about that low rpm high load misfire you are speaking about although my truck was experiencing it albeit much less than when completely stock as I moved the base intake cam angles up and that had alleviate it to some degree.

After I got the new timing board built that low rpm high load misfire feeling is gone.
You can let it lope along at 1400-1600 rpms at 45-50 mph and it runs smooth.
Climb a small hill no problem it won't buck at all.

I have spent as much time in this area of the tune as I have the WOT area.

What areas of ecu did you tune to get to is350 power?

    Ignition timing

My point in saying is350 power is that there is no reason this 2gr-fks should not make similar power with that 2gr-fks.
I know they don't share the same intake manifold, exhaust system, or cooling fan which all hurt power in the Tacoma but after tuning I think the Tacoma can get very close to the same power.

My biggest complaint with the stock tune and current tune although better is in this high load low rpm range as most of time is spent driving in it.
My observation is the 1100-1200 rpm range is when it is at it peak misfiring.

Also is your tune based off OV tune VFt?

Can you find a stock FX4 Crew Cab that ran faster than a 9.36@75 in 1/8 mile?
Tuned yes they get fast quick.
I ran a stock 2wd extended cab at the track he went a 15.30@92

    Absolutely
I tried on here before and didn't have any takers.....
I shared on that MooseDitty17 tuning thread but I noticed whenever people saw I don't use OV they kinda shun me or stop the conversation.
I am a open book mostly when it comes to tuning. I have been doing this for years across a lot of different platforms.

not sure why U are operating in 1100-1200 range

thats sitting still ‘ fast idle ‘ on most vehicles

no less under ‘ load ‘ the results in the engine ‘ lugging ‘.....................long term NOR Good !!

consistent driving habits transfer to the memory

driving environs are so vary different owner to owner

I make NO attempt to tell U how to drive / operate Ur taco

I find 2300rpm to be the sweet spot for my engine

    others may not

    I find good power

    no pinging or misfires

    great economy

in the event my 12Ds applied urgently...........NO Unpleasant hesitations

My engine speed is 1100-1200 quite often, absolutely no issues stock or tuned. I cruise in 6th in the city a lot, even has power to go up slight hills.
