You could try if you wanted them. Ask the dealer to split the cost minus labor, for a set of black housing Pro headlights. Might be worth the cost if you wanted the BH. If they laught at you, it didn't cost anything

    That was ment for OP

Sorry if I’m the only one curious, but how the heck did that mark get inside the headlight?

No matter how small or “trivial” a blemish, dent, ding, or mark on a new vehicle is to you, it might mean more to some one else. I don’t know about you, but I have to keep my truck for as long as possible. I can’t trade it in in 2 years like some of y’all can to get another pristine truck. So therefore, I try like hell to keep my truck in as good as shape as I can for as long as I can. I know things are gonna happen to it. I’m not anal about a lot of things either. But when I’m paying a boat load for something, the level of expectation that it will be as perfect as it can get is set pretty high. Truck, car, phone, house, etc. Those things aren’t $2 items from Dollar General. I expect quality. Period.

I also envy those that don’t let the little things bother them. Those that can just say “eh” and move on. But remember, everyone is different. If it bothers them, have a little compassion. I’m sure there’s been a point in your life when you needed compassion for something that no one else gave a hoot about. If not, it will happen.

I’ll speak for myself, I appreciate your opinion, it matters that far at least. For me, a blemish like that doesn’t take away from the “newness”, nor does it take something away from ME or cheapen my purchase. Obviously you, the OP and I feel differently about this. My response as well as some others are meant to express “don’t sweat the small stuff so damn hard” all of us want our new stuff new. But a truck is the sum of a shitload of parts, and no two are really the exact same, none of them are as perfect as they are on paper.

I don’t see where the OP is being that crazy. Everyone is different. The only downside is that they could say he should have seen it upon taking the truck off the lot. That is something that if you looked over with a fine tooth comb it may have been noticed.

If it were me, it would have to be replaced. I am meticulous with my vehicles, kept in the garage... etc. so yes, it will always stay Pristine. I’d ask them to replace it... poor QC on Toyota’s part.

If that's on the inside, I would 100%, without a shred of doubt, complain until they replaced the headlight.

When I bought my truck, it was pouring down rain. Kinda hard to go over a new vehicle when it’s wet! Now, I could have come back the next day it wasn’t raining but damnit man, I wanted out of that Dart! Regardless, it’s easy to miss something small especially when your excited! :kona:

Last 2 trucks I bought they put in a delivery bay off the showroom and they walk around the vehicle with you so you can inspect it prior to signing your paperwork.

    Yeah... that would bother me...
They should replace it since there is really no way you could have done that.

They didn’t offer, but I’m sure they would have if I asked. But it was like 7pm and had to get home, change clothes, and go to my second job. It was raining, and man, after 5 hours of haggling I was ready to get. I’m just glad my truck was all good ... otherwise it would have been my fault.

Most places have a bay from prepping vehicles and
It’s so funny you say that. I had typed out a response and everything saying the same thing and I was watching the Redskins game and said “Oh the hell with it!” But yeah I thought most all dealers have some type of exclusive bay so even if you buy at night you can give her a good check out.

I wouldn't put my truck in the hands of a dealership if that shit was in both headlights and all four turn signals.

Last time I dropped off one of my vehicles for something trivial (Mustang GT with moisture in a fog light) they replaced the fog light and left me with a spectacular new driver's side door ding.

Didn't even break bad with them, just chalked it up to another lesson learned at the dealer and called up the dent wizard..

    Not worth it, brother.

Come on guys. What if the marker was on the paint? You would want that fixed no? I would ask them to replace that.

I agree. Last time we brought our Rav4 in for the last free oil change and tire rotation, when it was sitting on the ready line I looked it over. Greasy hand prints on rear panels, both sides. Dirty hand prints on the hood. Since it was just grease and dirt I sure as hell wasn't going to let them wash it, so we left and I said we will not return there unless absolutely necessary.
OP, I would look for someone selling stock lights in the marketplace section and do it yourself if it bothers you. I know you shouldn't have to pay for it yourself, but if you let the dealer handle it you could cause more pain to yourself than a few hundred dollars out of pocket. Plus you could keep the markered light for a backup if ever needed.

This is a perfect opportunity to leverage that blemish for some free shit. Personally, I'd go for the TRD hat...but that's just me.
