Oh so you already have plenty of experience, which is huge. And you're lifted. And have 33s. You will do just fine. I am a total noob, squishy soft suspension, 31s, and just the factory front skids. Didn't even have my sliders at that time. Sure, I have a rear locker, but I only used it I think once and that was because I took a trail that I probably shouldn't have and ran into some mud trying to bypass. You're already far more equipped than I was.

Your factory skid was pretty bashed by the end of the day though, wasn't it?

    It was. Pic related.

But I did a few things very poorly. Some specific things as well as generally just not accounting for the 1000 miles of nose dive my truck has. With experience and deliberation, I am thinking a good bit of that could have been avoided.

Ok great. I mainly want to learn how to properly use a winch, a hi-jack, and different ways to do recoveries.

Let's talk. I really like the idea of drive shaft armor hung off the BAMF diff-diaper.

That will only protect the rear most u joint.
I am thinking some 3/16" stocke welded to a near mod-poiny traction bar that will take the hit from a rock instead of the drive shaft

Yeah, attached to the cross member with the carrier bearing at one end, and the dif diaper at the other. 3/16th welded to 1"Dom tubes, probably put a slip fitting at the front end to accommodate the arc of the rear axle.

Only question is how will that tolerate the axle rotation as you flex?

Heim at the front can deal with the axle movemet during articulation. If the yraction bar is the corrdct length then ot will not need to get longer durinh suspension cycling

I would weld brackets to the rear itself. No way would I rely on the bolts

If the axle moves vertically, and the traction bar is going to make an arc around its pivot, there has to be some compensation to make the two match.

The arc of the rear axle determined by the lentgh of the leaf springs, plus the change in dimension from the center pin to leaf eye as the pack arches during droop. And a strong crossmember to attach the traction bar to is needed.

A slip yoke style connection would be easy to do, and jave no effect on traction bars ability to curb axle wrap. And thrn I could attach the front wherever I wished.
