4" of water on top of 6" of ice. DS tire hooked on an edge real good. @Redmann tried to winch me out but something happened!

 

Something sure did happen. And then all of a sudden, nothing happened.

 

Yep. I’ve had their billet arms for 4 years. Several sets of uniballs later giving these a try. So far I’m impressed

 

Did something snap?

That's a 10,000 lb winch line doubled and it was pulling like a motherfucker!

It was super windy on the way there. Truck blew over.

And it was cold as balls!

 

Well since I was supposed to be there and my truck decided to be a dick, I’ll bite. Didn’t you just get that winch?

 

yep. i spooled the line in the wrong direction. I did it like I do my toilet paper, over the top. it must have caught an edge on the bumper behind the fairlead or just the angle rubbing against the fairlead itself. oh well... rookie mistake. good news is, now I get to learn how to splice/thread a synthetic winch rope!! roughly 25 feet or so was snapped off.

 

15 seconds of winching and the line snapped. Must of been a manufacturing defect.

 

so feckin excited to use my winch too... womp womp

 

Next time if you ever get stuck you can use it.

 

Genuinely curious here, how’d you spool it backwards?

 

if i remember, I'll take a pic of the arrow on the winch. when i screwed the end of the rope into the drum, i looked at the arrow and thought, hey thats pointing in the same direction that I like my toilet paper. then when I was spooling it under tension, I didnt pay attention to the angle of the rope going into the fairlead. it was also the end of a very long and physical day of working on my truck.

 

I didn't get stuck as much this time. even when we were playing rock crawler HORSE at the end!!

 

Interesting! So the line came separate from the drum? Is it synthetic?

 

we were so tired, that when i was spooling up the winch, i was hitting the out button on the controller and thinking oh that seems wrong... 2 and 2 did not make 4
