so you're going to pay to camp at aoaa (offroad park) and drive to rausch creek (a different offroad park) instead of camping at rausch (for free)

That’s what I would have done, yes. I’d rather have a nice experience than listen to inconsiderate assholes all night.

The only problem with this plan is the RV dudes with generators at AOAA. And the dirt bike crew, and the drunks walking to the portajohn, because apparently pissing on a tree is hard, but pissing on the side of a portajohn is ok.

If you, or the wife, is a light sleeper I'd recommend some third option that's not full of offroading assholes of various sorts.

I’ve been at aoaa for 4-5 nights now and haven’t had an issue with any of the rv’s or any of that. So far everyone is quiet and respectful. I like aoaa facilities more as well, and their price. Just wish the trails were better. I still like it though.

I always have a fan on. It all started when we moved from the “city” to the boondocks when I was a kid. I couldn’t sleep. It was dead quiet. My folks got me a fan. 30 years later, I’m still using one.

I think you have to go to RC with the right mindset. People will be up late drinking and talking. They won’t change their ways for you (or me). Get a little buzz on, fire up the white noise machine, and relax.

That’s a good way of looking at it Tim. That sounds pretty nice.

For the money I'd like the AOAA campground to be a little nicer, but I enjoy camping at both spots. As Tim said, you have to have the right mindset for either.

And you have to get a good spot at either one too.

Just go to Rausch and camp out on the trails somewhere. It will be much quieter. I know they say no night wheeling so just tell them you’re Overlanding :D

Better? How so? There's a lot of good trails there. If I remember correctly, we unfortunately spent ALL morning on 36 at the last AOAA meet in October.

Upper and lower Anthracite are cool, BA, the pit trail. I can't remember all the trails I've been on since I'm never leading. Granted there's a lot of ground and green trails to cover to get to the ones I would go for, but still.

+1 to upper and lower anthracite, 38 M, 55, and the 39 section. Lot's of tough stuff to hit. Still haven't run Bee line or BA.
