Wrenching on the only vehicle that didn't hit the trails on Saturday

His CV's were toast (half the diameter had rusted away) so we had a little pre-planned wrench party to replace both before dinner

Someone's gotta do it. Plus, it lets you be part of wheeling, even without a truck

    :lalala:

Yeah sliders are definitely pushed way up on the list. It's way too clear how important they are; probably the most important armor. They will be next, after the lift.
Yeah that obstacle was...close. Kudos to Ryan and Mojo for guiding me through it.

Just me getting the royal treatment. :anonymous:...

I'd go sliders first IMO. I wheeled Rausch a fuck ton on stock height, just armor. My rear is still a stock spring.

You still have stocks springs in the rear? How? I'm at 175K and my leafs are flat and super soft. Don't you have like 225K on yours?

I was originally going to do sliders before suspension, but I changed my mind. For one, the ride height is obviously helpful, but it's not just that. My shit is so soft unsupportive. Even going out of my driveway, which has a sudden raised waterdam of sorts at the end, feels like shit. New suspension wouldn't just be with wheeling in mind. I DD my truck way more than I wheel it, so the quality of that ride is my priority.

I replaced my leaves at 180k with a stock pack that had like 80k on it or something like that. So looking at 130k on them now or so, so I see what you mean. I replaced mine only cause I snapped a leaf though.

Ooh, I see. You're probably due for aftermarket before too long. You're looking at Dakars, right?
How did you manage to snap a leaf? That's not even a part I thought you could snap...

Yeah hoping Dakars will be my solution for a bit. Would love deavers but they are spendy as fuck.

And I think it was more or less them just being extremely clapped out, but doing shit like this didn't help either.

Leaf springs are subject to metal fatigue. The more times they are cycled, the sooner they will break. And the more extremely they are flexed makes it happen sooner. I broke 9 leaves on my dually before I went with a custom pack and traction bars. But that was because of extreme weight and violent axle wrap( cuz of lead foot!)
